    Hey,
I have a basic porter kit I plan on brewing shortly. I plan on adding mocha extract on bottling day (correct me if I'm wrong). How do I add the mint?

Has anyone ever tried this? Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Many people add mint to the secondary in a muslin bag. I've only used mint once in a beer and added it at flame out. It came out good. Not overpowering and a subtle mint character at the end of each sip.

how much did you add? Was it a 5-gallon batch?

    Thanks...

make a mint extract using vodka and mint leaves. store for about a month, shaking every once in a while. add to secondary, rack beer on top. ive added mint leaves at flameout and got a vegetable taste in the beer, not pleasant. youll have to experiment to find out much to add, it will depend on a lot of factors (strength of extract, base beer, etc.)

a touch of vanilla extract can go a long way.
