Miscounting states

    We don't count the state, but rather the states associated with the breweries. So it could be any number of breweries that still have an old (state-less) master location. DFH doesn't have an old master location, so if you review one of their beers ... Delaware counts.

    Is the master location the state listed on the breweries' homepage or it's internal and not visible to members?

    Well, then I'm stumped. I have 3 states with breweries (Hawaii - Kona, Arizona - Chili Beer, Oklahoma - Prairie) that all say "brewed at/by another brewery" but all list addresses within their respective states. Any further assistance is very much appreciated as I've spent several hours trying to figure this out

    Probably best just to let it go for now. We're aware of it, but nothing can be done about it until we update the rest of the old master listings.

    For science I rated beer from Old Dominian brewery in Delaware yesterday. Checked this morning and I have 42 states recorded. Seems as if Dogfish Head does not count, probably something to look into.

    My guess: This stat updates with other daily user stats, based on the last time you were active on the site, and you were expecting it to be instant.

    Hello

    I was wondering why is it that the stats for the number of states I have tried beers from have not updated properly.
    It indicates only four, yet from the current beers I've had the correct number of states is 7:
    California, Michigan, Massachusetts, Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, Delaware.

    It's been a while since I had them, much more than it usually takes to update any other stat.

    First off, I suggest reading through this thread as I'm guessing you had Dogfish Head (DE) and Boston Beer Co/Sam Adams (MA)... Those are Master Beer Listings and do not get counted in the state count, I'm guessing that at least one other you have had falls into the same category (Bud Light maybe).

    Did a quick look through the thread and didn’t find an answer. Is there a reason that the system views 51 states (Counts DC) but gives the ALL states at 50 with DC counting as 1 of your 50. I don’t notice any other territories counting towards your ALL states (PR, Guam, etc) but DC seems to throw off the algorithm

    My guess is that it is a bug in the Beer Karma award - as far back as I can remember, the site counted DC in the states count (I'm guessing it is using everything where the country is "United States").

    Could there be an issue with Uinta or Surly not being counted as UT or MN? Just had one of each recently, but only got counted one new state (and these were my first beers from UT or MN). Thank you!

    Why don't the master listings count? It makes it a lot more difficult to track the states you've had when some breweries don't count.
