Have you guys ever stayed away from a bottle or 6-pack just because you didn't know what you would get solely judging by the label and name of the beer? This came up recently at a tasting I attended recently where The Lost Abbey Inferno Ale was the beer in question. Without doing any extensive research on the brew, one would think that this was either a red or amber ale with some spicy kick to it, when in fact it is a nice Belgian Pale. What are your thoughts on this phenomenon, and do you have any other examples?

North Coast's Red Seal is a pale ale despite it's name and all-red label, which I tried to explain to a friend who thinks it's a "lousy red ale"

Hoppy Boy from Twisted Pine. Can is covered in hops, makes THC (Tall Hoppy Can) reference, so I was expecting a dank, sticky beer. What I got was a thin, malty mess.

    Huh? http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/112/410.

When I tried it a little while back, I certainly remember it being an amber/red. This site seems to agree.

Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic (not a lambic)
Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout (love it, but there's no cocoa in it, ergo it isn't a chocolate stout)
Lagunitas Brown Shugga (it's very hoppy and has no brown sugar flavor)
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine (feels like and tastes like a DIPA when fresh)
