Ha! Joke's on me, I guess. Maybe they should rename it Orkney Inevitably Skull Splitting Strong Ale?

Maybe Sam Adams Rebel Raw, just because it isn't particularly rebellious to make an unfiltered, fresh IPA after realizing those are cool right now and everyone else is doing it.

Well, you stole my answer, so I guess I'll go home. Juice Pants is a beer I actually like a lot, but it borders on false advertising with how unlike an NE IPA it is.

I felt the Sierra Nevada Tropical IPA was more piney than tropical

I would have agreed with the name the first time I tried it. But that was also when I was just getting into good beer. Nowadays it would be a different story:wink:

Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. I enjoyed this beer but it's not an IPA. They even claim it's the holy grail for hop heads.

You must remember that Skullsplitter comes from a culture where beer is drunk by the multiple Imperial pint. After 4 or 5 pints a headache is quite likely.

Hopslam, more like Hypeslam/Maltslam:wink: Something this well balanced shouldn't be called Hopslam. Still looking forward to buying another sixer next year!

That doesn't surprise me. It took me several weeks worth of investigating, pestering my local bottle shops to see when they would be getting it in. By a stroke of luck I one day ran into my local Bell's distributor in the parking lot as I was leaving and got the scoop on the goods.

My diligence resulted in me getting the very first sixer, fresh off the truck. A line quickly ensued as you can imagine. The Sixers did not last very long. I was ecstatic, It was my very first "whale". Was it worth the time and effort to track down? Nope. Still a very good beer though.

I hope you get a chance to try it this year as it is quite delicious although imo not quite worthy of the immense hype. Cheers!

That is what I am afraid of , if and when I am able to get my hands on a Bells or Pliney it will be a letdown. Such is life. Cheers

And another thing: it only took me 35 minutes to drink it. False advertising!

The one I thought of when I saw the name of this thread was FW Oaktoberfest, which was tasty but tricked many people into thinking that there was some sort of barrel involved. Not so much.

What exactly is an IPA? They have been around for 200 years and have taken many forms.Nobody brews anything remotely like the ones sent to India and for about 100 years have been a synonym for Bitter.
Will the real IPA please stand up?
