Hey, I butcher German and Belgian breweries all the time. I took German for 2 years over 2 decades ago. Cut me some slack. I understand mispronouncing a new brewery name on occasion, too. However, if you are at the brewery and the brewery name is really simple...pronounce it right!!!

The one that angers me the most is my local favorite...Logboat. I've heard too many people visiting LOGBOAT call the place Longboat. I somewhat understand. A longboat is a thing that exists in this world. But have the curtesy to realize the establishment you are currently sitting in has no "N" in it's name!!!

How about the rest of you? Anyone else annoyed by hearing a simple brewery name butchered by people?

can't say i've ever bothered to give it a second thought but i have also heard people talking about 'longboat' before and wondering if they were referring to the same place. guess that clears it up.
on the subject of st louis area breweries i've never understood everybody having a difficult time saying schlafly, it's really pretty straightforward people jesus christ

I used to think it was Wynbridge instead of the actual name, Wyndridge.

I hear many mispronunciation of many words every day and addded letters or twisted names.

I don’t care if you call it Victory or Viceroy, Bells or Balls.

I get more annoyed when people use a word incorrectly.

I feel bad for others when they misuse words in type

    To, Too, Two
    There , Their
It’s a lot, alot is not a word

    Enjoy

I only get mad if someone is arguing with me and acts like I'm stupid then uses the wrong word or words.

I’m not an English Prof, it’s seriously not all that important imo. It’s hard to be critical unless your willing to be criticized. Most don’t like it.

The number of people I've heard call it "Jack Abbys" or misspell it "Jack's Abbey" would depress you. it depresses me.

While we're at it, when a bar writes O'Dells or O'Dell on their draft board instead of Odell.

We have a local brewery called Flyway. People ALWAYS call it Flyaway. Drives me nuts.

Maybe the brewery might have given that one a bit more thought, but still they know who they are

My dad still calls it Lagun-eye-tis. Makes it sound like a disease.

Seems to me that brewers could prevent any confusion simply by including a phonetic pronunciation on the label. You know, like lah-goo-KNEE-tuss does.

People don’t really mispronounce it, but after a few pints the name Sibling Revelry doesn’t really roll off the tongue easily....
