I pour a ton of JA by me and it's almost a 30% Jack Abby or Jack Abby's.

Grimm somehow ends up being Grime.
    Finback magically turns into Fineback.
LIC Beer Project is Lick Project

And more of a pet peeve since it's borderline accepted is Duvel. It's not French, it's Dutch. Doovil. Not doo-vell.

That was post-Heineken - well, at least when the "FUCKIN" part went from being an exclamation of excitement re: taste and/or price, to a criticism of the sellout.

It's fun to check back in to a post and see how much it shifted from its original intent. So many posts about difficult name or foreign (to Americans) names. The original post was venting frustrating about Logboat, which is a compound word containing two pretty freaking simple words, "log" and "boat".

Please note that I said this is fun in my first sentence of this post.

    Cheers!

Either of those is better than "Laggy," which I've seen from time to time here.

There's a restaurant in the same town as Jack's Abby that routinely misspells the JA beers they have on their tap list. Last time they had "Harponius Union" and "Smokey Daggers"

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but I’m so proud of myself that I recently, after years of butchering it, mastered the pronunciation of diacetyl.

Not a brewery, but a customer name I have to be careful with - Fokkenrood - lol.

You know it's not a long "e," right?*

(wish someone had told me back in the day)

*Huh -- Checking our old friends Merriam-Webster, I guess both pronunciations are correct. And some of the home-brewers were making fun of me!

Like when you use an acetylene torch to cut steel. Dye-A-set-elene.

Or deeks- either way is acceptable :sunglasses:.

I've heard diacetyl pronounced both ways, fwiw, from industry people and whatnot. I'm guessing the way one pronounces it is largely dependent on how they first heard it spoken.

I was going through a list of users sorted by last name once and came across Aiken, Dick. Another user who's last name is Doodlesack.

Troegs...with the umlaut above the O. They seem to think it should rhyme with "rogues."

As Turkish said to Tommy in the movie Snatch: "Well come on then, before, zee Germans get here."

Until I saw it written phonetically I never realized that Hoof Hearted was a play on words, and just though someone was fond of their horse.
