Revolution pizza in Charlotte still has bottles of KBS. Just bought a 4 pk. Bottles are $8 apiece but there is no limit. There's at least a couple bottles still sitting in the fridge. Apparently they got 6 cases total. Go get some!
I had my only bottle I've ever had last night. It was bloody amazing. I would jump on these like a fat kid on cake if I were closer.
Revolution pizza still has bottles of KBS! How have Charlotte BA's not jumped on this? I would buy another 4 pk but I have already bought my share...trying to share the KBS wealth an no one wants it!
I didn't find any KBS this year, the supply was low, and the demand has quadrupled in the past year it seems. (far more competition for the less amount of cases this year). But I gotta ask, aren't most places selling 4-packs for what it went for in the past? Around $20? $32 seems a crazy markup, almost worthy of reporting to Founders. Maybe that's why it's still there. Alot of stores in Raleigh didn't get more than 1 case, if any at all, (I'm guessing Charlotte too), stores that would have charged proper prices. [sorry Rymar, good of you to spread awareness of where to find it, should have left my bitter rant about distribution and gouging out of this]
I enjoyed it so much I would gladly pay the $8 a bottle. It is a bit much though, I wasn't pleased paying the six a piece I did for the two bottles I managed to snag.
Yea I understand that $8 for a 12 oz bottle isn't cheap but revolution pizza is a bar not a bottle shop so that's why there is a slight mark up. And yea 6 cases does seem pretty generous but I was told they got a couple extra cases because they did not get a keg of it this year. It's just crazy to me that a healthy supply of KBS ( one of the best beers in the world ) has been sitting at revolution for like a month now! That's unheard of...anywhere else in the country an that supply would have been gone in no more than a week
Ahh...good point. Bar over bottle shop makes some sense....I know when I've seen bars sell bottles in my area, there has been a healthy markup as well. Kinda forgot that angle.
I find 6 cases pretty hard to believe - but I'll definitely stop by & snag some today. I was able to pick up just three bottles this year - didn't work too hard at it... three different stops at the same Total Wine. They only got one case per Total Wine & my local shop didn't run out for four days. I think it was $5 a bottle.
I have been going back and forth on this all week and guess I will be up there when they open at 4 to grab some..
Not to thread jack here, just trying to offer an explanation for the price difference between bars and bottle shops.... Here in Florida places that serve 'on premise' i.e. bars actually pay more than liquor stores/bottle shops for the exact same items. I would assume it might be similar in other states.
I was able to justify it by reminding myself that I had paid like $18 each for a 6 pack of Older Viscosity...thanks for the heads up Rymar!
From my previous experience in the the restaurant business in NC, I believe it is the same here as well
$8 a bottle is expensive but KBS is one of the only beers I rated all 5s. I would buy a case if I lived by here........ and if I had the money
