Still a ton of Breakfast Stout out there. No need to worry/kill/beat yourself.

I lived in Sacramento when Odinata Brewing released their first beers. I had been laid off of work at the time and was being very careful with how I spent money. When "Rorie's Ale" came out, I read that it was an "amber" ale so I didn't bother looking for it. By the time I learned the actual description (below) it was long gone.

Rorie’s Ale is a quadruple ale aged for one year in wine barrels with sour cherries. Brewed to celebrate the birth of our brewmaster Peter Hoey’s daughter this ale is designed to be cellared for years. Rich caramel, burnt sugar and spicy notes combine with the fruity cherry and sweet malt character for a complex sipping beer. This beer would pair well with lamb, duck and triple cream cheeses as well as transition seamlessly into dessert.

To this day, I still haven't been able to track one down.

I had it for the first time this year and I wasn't that impressed. At least not for the price.

I do that often part but some breweries don't do them self any favors by not even hinting at what the beer may taste like, the total wine shelf talker in my area for the most part aren't worth reading, and I elect not to be the guy on his smart phone for hours searching for wifi trying to find something out about 1 beer surrounded by many I know I will enjoy. The only time I'm disappointed walking out of a retail spot is when I'm empty handed.

Back in 2011 a friend and I did a ride from Vancouver to Seattle (180 miles or so) and our girlfriends met us at the finish with some fancy looking beer they picked up on the way down. Both my buddy and I were into craft beer but I wasn't well versed with sought after beers from other regions. Our girlfriends didn't know beer at all but picked a fancy looking option at the store.

I happened upon this pic recently and realized what we were drinking. I remember really liking it but I had no idea what I was drinking.

Firestone Walker Parabola. When that stuff hit NJ a few years ago, no one really knew what it was, it was pricy and just sat on shelves. Now it's impossible to find.

When beatification batch 3 came out (the 750s), my local store got about a half dozen cases, and it sat on the floor for a couple months. I only bought two bottles during that whole time ( should have picked up a case). At least I still have one of those two.
