I was unfortunate enough to have my first major "missed opportunity" this weekend. I make about 3 or 4 trips to Halftime beverage in Poughkeepsie NY per week. Anyways, on Friday evening I spent about 45 minutes in the store checking out the selection. As I walked up to the register I looked at the rare bottles they have behind the cashier and didn't see anything I particularly wanted. I left content. On Saturday I popped back in with a buddy and fellow BA just to grab a couple more brews. As we were checking out he asked the cashier how much the bottle of KBS was. I looked up shocked and excited only to find, to my dismay, there was one bottle left. As he had seen it first it was his. I talked to the cashier and he said they had had about 10 more bottles just the day before. Needless to say, I did not look carefully enough on Friday and missed my opportunity to grab a much coveted KBS.

Anyone else had the misfortune of finding they'd missed an opportunity similar to this? And, do you think it is better to not even find out you'd missed it?

I have not had that experience but I have noticed that it is necessary to check for good crafts on, near, and behind the counter. No matter how big the craft aisle is, there are always a few 'specials' hanging around.

My missed opportunity came when I traveled the South Carolina border for Westbrook Mexican Cake.. I ended up buying about 12 bottles and 3 growlers worth cause I loved it soo much.. Well i loved it soo much i told everyone that is a local charlotte beer geek how good it is and offered a bottle to them at cost.. I was then left with 4 bottles and two growlers.. Now I am left with 2 bottles.. :slight_frown:

That sounds like you made the most of the opportunity by sharing. Being a good human is much more important than beer.

I agree. He did not miss out, he shared a good thing. And don't we all do it? Sure, and it comes back around as well.

Is that a 'miss out'? Or did you share the wealth? Sounds like a good BA to me.
