It's been about a month now but the pain still lingers. I lost a pet to cancer and it really sucks to not see that familiar mug everytime I come home. I've also had a few ups and downs lately but things finely seem to be getting back to normal. Anyways, I've been wanting to do this for awhile but couldn't really come up with a "game" or some way to make it fun because it's not really fun losing a pet.

Instead, I will make it very simple because I want everyone (which hopefully isn't many) to have a fair chance. So if you have lost a pet in the past 2 weeks then post it here. I will give this until Friday and if by some unfortunate chance you lose a pet between now and Fri you are eligible. On Saturday, I will put the names in a hat and draw. Whosever name I draw will receive a box of TX beers and possibly some wants to help make your week a litle better.

I really hope there is noone, in which case I'll extend the 2 weeks, because I know how much it sucks. If you lie to enter this LIF, I hope I see you in Hell. Please lower 48 only. You do not need to do an LIF in the future but I think it would be really badass if the winner did continue this when possible to help brighten someone else's day.

We buried Ebeneezer today, a sweet black cat a coworker dumped on us 9 years ago. No need to put my name in your hat, just wanted say that I know the sadness very well. Very best wishes to you. And the most poignant LIF ever. Over time, the pain will fade and the memories will be there to cherish... Been there more times than I like to think.

Cheers to you and all BAs who love their 4-legged friends.

Not exactly eligible, but my sisters dog (I've seen her weekly for nearly 7 years) which has been a great animal that never had any trouble in those 7 years, bit the face of my 2yr old nephew last night. He received 25 stitches this morning. The little guy is being a trooper through it all.

Noelle is most likely going to be put down for this though. :slight_frown:

Likewise. It's going to happen at some point, but I cannot imagine the thought of losing mine either. OP has my condolences as well.

An english bulldog could live to be one hundred and that would be too young. I love my bully and am not looking forward to losing her. She's 12 and sassy as ever.

I hear that man, best dog I ever had for the few years I did. Can't see myself with any other kind of dog. Been reluctant to get another though cuz it was so bad when I lost my boy.

I have two austrailian shepards, great dogs but not as great as my sophie. My one year old can try to ride my bulldog and she just sits back and let's him sit on her. I'll always have one for sure. I'm so sorry to hear that you lost yours. If you geg another don't think of it as a replacement, no dog can replace the one you have lost.

I had to put my Black Lab down the day after Valentine's Day this year. She had some sort of bowel obstruction that caused her to get bigger and bigger around the stomach even though she slowly stopped eating. She was 14 and the doctor said she would only have around 6 months to live even if they did surgery. We decided to end her suffering humanely. Other than actually seeing her stop breathing, the saddest thing was seeing her lose her bowels all over the room after they gave her the first shot to sedate her. :slight_frown:

    RIP Toes

For the sake of fellow BAs, knowing how painful it is to lose a pet, I hope no one has to "win" this LIF. My condolences to the OP; this is a tough time. Props to you for having the heart to help someone else who may also be hurting.

Not here to enter this LIF... just here to send my condolences, my friend! I lost a lifelong family pet(Jack Russell named "Peanut") years ago from old age, and although the pain eventually subsides... the memory of that loyal friend always puts a smile on my face. Quite noble gesture you're doing here, Brad, during your time of sorrow!

...also hope no BA has gone through a situation to be able to win this.

I'm constantly throwing shit at my cat, but I keep missing her too (thought of the joke before I read the somber posts so forgive me).

My wife and I lost our 18 month old cat Feb. 14th, 2010 to some unknown disease. He was a little bastard, but he was our little bastard. We drowned our sorrows at Goose Island, which was already our plan for Valentine's Day, but that night it took on a new meaning. Thought it was pretty respectful that, while we were pretty emotional, no one interupted the private moment with anything but fresh beers.

We have a new cat now who was left to us by my mother who died last Aug. While she's a pain in the ass who goes into heat at the drop of a hat and keeps us up all night yowling, we'd be pretty devastated to see her go. Sorry for your loss and good luck with the LIF.
