FedEX delivers from non-FedEx trucks? Never heard or seen that before.

Recently I have been having my packages delivered to a local FedEx Office that is open 24-hours a day, I will either create the label for the shipper with that as the address or re-route it using that customization delivery tool they offer now. I do this so I know the package is there and its not just left outside my house

    Couple theories:

    1) (Most likely) Fed Ex lost the box amongst the many other boxes they deliver and incorrectly reported it as delivered. They could find it later and deliver it then. How long that takes? Who knows. Luckily none of those are a fresh IPA.

    2) If you trade a lot and have a reputation around your neighborhood as receiving a lot of high quality beer, perhaps a neighbor or friend stole the box. Especially if it is easily identifiable. Maybe it was someone else who appreciates fine beer. Maybe it was someone under 21 looking for a score to bring to their next high school/ college party (would be a huge waste of some fine beer).

    3) Got busted by the feds. Feds have your beer. Shipping of alcohol by retailer or individual without a license. Also, since you live in PA state law does not allow licensed retailers to ship to PA either (unless that law has been changed recently). So maybe the state intercepted the package.

    4) Package was damaged and Fed Ex is copping to it.

    5) Delivered to the wrong person. They opened it up, discovered they hit the jackpot and kept it for themselves.

FedEx ground will rent trucks as opposed to buying and maintaining the trucks, that's what my local FedEx ground does in VA, hell of a lot cheaper in the long run...

I talk to both my FedEx ground and UPS drivers, they are at my house at least 1 or 2 times a week...

I'm hoping none of my beer boxes go missing...that would suck, have gotten over 2 cases of beer this week from OH, CT, NC and MA...a growler too

Well, the mystery has finally been solved. Here is the recap..

Box shows up delivered on fedex website, but not there on Thursday. I drive around, no sign. Stop at house A about 10 houses away, but the guy says they didn't get anything.
FedEx told me it got delivered to house B. I stop by Saturday, ask the guy, he said he will look.
Sunday, the small box shows up, opened..
I write House B a note to thank them for dropping it off. She called me, and said they didn't get any boxes, and she is mad at fedex for telling me it was dropped off there.
Week goes by. And I hear from a neighbor, that house A dropped off the small box. SO I assume, they would have dropped off both boxes, so I figure, FedEx delivered one, and lost the big box.
Yesterday, Im washing cars, and the lady from house A walks by, and said, "I have another box at my house". She said she didn't want to just leave it on my porch.

Yea. I am just about there. I had the FedEx delivery guy OPEN up a box to see if it was alcohol. Of course it was and back it went.

This seems to be happening a lot with FedEx lately. And I mean A LOT! Do they x-ray boxes randomly? I've actually stopped using them because of all of the "discovery" posts.

Something similar just happened to @Yarni28. Package was sent from me, marked delivered, but it wasn't there (outside of his building) when he got home. I feel awful and hoping that FedEx just fucked up or just outright lied.

Literally had this happen today. I was home and then got an email that my package was delivered at 1:37. I was doing some work on my coach by the front window and never saw a truck yet alone a delivery which would have had to happen right behind me. Checked with my neighbors and nothing. Called FedEx and started a trace. They called me and said it might take a few days to determine if it was lost. I had given up hope and then at 6 a minivan pulls into my driveway and a guy gets out with a big box. They delivered to a house with the same house number in my zip code, but not even the right street. The label had the right address, so WTF. FedEx still has not called besides their initial follow up. Thank goodness the guy visited his mom and decided to do a good dead, otherwise who knows. I got lucky!

Also, over the winter they "lost" a box to a Portland trader for almost two weeks and just when I was putting together a make-up box it miraculously showed back up in the tracking system.
