I had a box that was scheduled for delivery yesterday and it is missing now. Ups says it was delivered at the front door but it's not there. Checked with the neighbors and they don't have it. Not a sketchy area so I don't think it was stolen. Had this ever happened to anyone else? The box wasn't insured
@mythaeus didn't this happen to you once maybe you can confirm? , and it ended up coming a few days later? I think ups sometimes says delivered to meet quota that day if they are over loaded, but when they are back to normal they deliver it.
It did happen to one of the packages I sent to my trade partner in Chicago. It was FedEx and they delivered it to the wrong building. Whoever got it called FedEx and they redelivered to the right address 2 business days later. This happened from time to time to other members as well, with both FedEx and UPS. OP, call UPS ASAP. Sometimes they can get in touch with the driver and he may be able to recall where the package was dropped off.
I believe all FedEx packages are insured up to $100, I would assume UPS is the same. I had the same thing happen a few months ago. Box said delivered, ended up at a neighbors house. Long story short, I got the box back a week later, thanks to a different neighbor who saw the box sitting inside that neighbors house.
Just curious, in the event a carrier says something was delivered but you never get the package will they reimburse you? Or is it basically a your word vs theirs situation? Has this happen to anybody? In addition to beer I sometimes get some rather expensive fishing and hunting equipment delivered and wonder what would happen if its stolen off my porch. Not that I live in a bad area, and if its super expensive I'll have the shipper send with a signature requirement or to my office.
This happened to me once. It was at a neighbors across the street and about 10 houses away. The address was not even close. You might need to expand your neighbor search.
I had someone send me a package that was marked as "delivered" but was not outside my door nor in my apartment's office. I called and they said it was delivered to an address that was an alternative address for my building but a different apartment number. I went and checked with them and they got a package but wasn't mine. It had only been marked "delivered" for 15 minutes before I got home so the chances that someone nabbed it is low. I told my trading partner that I was in contact with Fed Ex and opened a claim. He followed up and they sent him a check for $100 plus shipping.
Another reason to require a signature upon delivery. Much more likely for the driver or whoever receives the box (or both) to pay attention to the name on the delivery, and if they do accept the package and sign there's some record of it.
I have had this happen a few times. Turns out, kids were taking boxes off of my porch while I was working. Once was a box with wedding gifts in it and twice was with actual beer. Good news is I installed camera's and caught them fkrs. That's how I found out it was school kids. Never got beer or gifts back.
This happend to me once with a non-beer delivery. The box "magically" showed up in my driveway the next morning. I still wonder if they accidentally delivered it to a neighbor that dropped it by, or if someone stole it & had second thoughts the next morning.
Thanks for all the info guys. I've opened a claim with ups and am now waiting 8-10 business days to see if they can find it. Thankfully it is only 1 bottle, but the shipper doesn't have a replacement if it is never found.
Good news. The neighbor said it was delivered to his house. Not sure why he held it for a few days and the girlfriend didn't grill him
