Anything I MUST pick up, that'd be relatively easy to come by? I won't have much time at all, but is there anything that doesn't get shipped to the midwest that would be relatively easy to find and I'd kick myself if I didn't search for?

Would help to know where in NC you are coming so we can assist accordingly.

To some vineyard...on the western side of the state...their slogan is 'Chianti in the Carolinas', Raffaldini (sp) I think...we're staying in Elkin, and flying into Charlotte.

Highland, Pisgah, The Duck Rabit & Olde Hickory (think bigger beers) are all breweries I like. Probably find some nice Weyerbacher offerings (PA) in Western NC as well...

There are good bottleshops in Charlotte. Get you some Olde Hickory Brews, probably my favorite NC brewery these days. Saison Gee released recently, but bottles were pulled off shelves because they had some problems with conditioning. Seems like most shops just put their cases in the back per Steven at OHB's request for a few weeks until they could finish conditioning. So they might be back out by the time you get here (or you could ask to sell you some from the back). Should be able to find some OHB Imperial Stout and Irish Walker, too. And their ESB is pretty good.

Also, Foothills is a quick trip. Decent food, great beer on tap (they've had Jade on a lot recently, which is a great IPA). There's a great bottle shop down the street...City Beverage, I believe it's called. http://goo.gl/maps/bzlj

Yah the trip to Winston will be about 40min from elkin. Rafaldini is in a town called Ronda which is about the same distance to Winston as well. Jeb Scoot is right about the beer store being city beverage. Good selection of brews and always have some good stuff on tap too. If time is an issue, you are better off hitting the shops in Charlotte. There aren't any in or around the elkin area however. But if you like wine, I can direct you to a few good wineries up that way.

    Have fun.

if they have beer at the wedding it may come from Foothills, they typically buy kegs from us for weddings.

If you can find Olde Hickory Daniel Boone, buy it or drink it. Its a barrel-aged brown ale, which is a nice departure from a BA imperial stout or porter

Yup, it's Foothills at the wedding! I'm very excited about this, as I've never had it!
