I'm loving the baseball theme and the location! Will be looking forward to checking this brewery out on my next trip up to Grand Rapids.

Any word on this joint? How are the beers (what are they offering?) and how's the food stack up?

Checked this joint out last Saturday. IPA was alright, but the hefeweizen and peanut butter porter were delicious. Food is limited to basically pizzas and affiliated foods but the cheese garlic bread was badass (and the spicy sweet/sour sauce was great!) definitely still working out the kinks operation-wise but I can't wait to get back to GR to see how this place has improved. Good on you guys!

My brother in law went here recently and raved about the peanut butter porter and their stout. Definitely eager to check them out.

Visited The Mitten while in G.R. for my daughter's Irish dance competition this Thanksgiving weekend.
I enjoyed the weiss and the pumpkin, and the stout was "ok". But I found the APA to be lacking. They were out of some of their other beers. I didn't try the PB/cracker jack, because I just don't like stuff added to beers (a bit ironic since I do rather enjoy pumpkin beers).

The pizza was a bit above average. My 3 boys (ages 14, 13 and 5) and I devoured two of their 12" pies no problem. The basic pie, with one topping, is around $10-$11. Didn't try the garlic bread. I thought they would have a larger food menu, and upon finding out they only had pizza, my wife and daughter got up and left to get subs at Subway up the street. Oh well.

The waitress service was really good and attentive.

I also like the fact that they had some "standing tables" in a quarter of the bar where people could just stand around and drink. Kinda like in a German brewery.

If I am in Grand Rapids again, would I go out of my way to visit The Mitten Brewing Co? Yes. I'd like to try some of their other beers, and the food (pizza) is certainly worthy of a meal.
Also, it is only about 2 miles north of downtown (where we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott), and is easily reachable by car in 5-7 minutes.

By the way, I found Grand Rapids to be pretty cool, and a worthy beer destination. It seemed a bit bigger than its population might suggest. I checked out HopCat and Founders, and was very pleased by both. I wasn't able to visit any other beer joints / brewpubs in the city or surrounding area.....I was with family after all. But I have suggested to friends that a beer tour may be in order. I live in Milwaukee, and Grand Rapids is about 4.5 hrs away. Closer than northern Wisconsin. And some nice breweries enroute!

And in case you are wondering, my daughter (11) took first place in her dance competition (I know, I know, this should be on facebook and not here.....sorry!)

    Visit The Mitten!
