It sucks to be the person who gets the mix they were not expecting. Recently got the last 4 of FIS, came home and pulled them out, 2 were FBS. I had plenty of FBS, and no FIS at home, so I was pissed.

I've done the same thing, within a single brand of beer. The 6-packs were the same price and I thought, half pale/half IPA - awesome - the next guy will like the other mixed six too. Sometimes, I look up at the moon and I wonder, is he looking at the moon at this moment too? That would be magical.

I would never do that, but it isn't my job to stop other people. The employees need to make sure people aren't ripping them off.

I've seen people take beers out of other 6 packs from around the store and put them in a Mix A Six.

I picked up a sixer of Sucks and noticed two bottles were missing... Sucks was not in their Mix A Six area.

Dude obviously knew his beer, and was probably aware that what he was doing was wrong. Wanker move, no doubt, and I think I would have said something to him about it myself. At least point at the sign.

Thats different from what the OP is talking about. Hes talking about places that dont have a mix a six option.
Now I understand what youre talking about. Places that do have mix a six wont have all the singles available so people take from the six and 4 packs and put them in the mix a six. Thats still wrong but not as bad as what the OP is talking about.

I mean theres been a few times where I wanted to try a certain beer but I didnt want to pay 15 bucks for a 6 pack of it so I wanted to buy a single of it and put it in a mix of six only. The problem was they werent selling singles of that particular beer. Rather than just take from the sixer and put it in the mix pack I just moved on and chose from what singles they had. Have no idea if I would have got away with it or how many people do get away with that. They scan each single for price coding when you pay so maybe the beers in the six and 4 packs dont have the coding who knows.

Yeah I agree, what OP is describing is worse. Probably easier to get away with what I described as most checkout clerks won't know exactly what is and isn't allowed. Especially if it is grocery store and not a liquor store.

Alcohol should never be allowed in self checkout. It inevitably holds the line up while you wait to be ID'd by the employee who has to help the 6 other people who can't figure out how to use the self checkout. In fact, the inability of people to use self checkouts has proven to be the one thing most responsible for my loss of faith in humanity lately.

I think I got screwed by someone doing this once. I picked up my first six pack ever of Sculpin IPA, only to come home and find that 2 of them had been switched out and in their place were 2 Big Eye IPA. I was all sorts of confused at first, even thinking that perhaps this was how they were sold.

I'm not even sure if I got fiscally screwed really, does Scuplin cost more than Big Eye?

Id like to find out at a typical liquor store that offers mix a six just how many 4 or 6 pack beers do they let you buy as singles. I wonder what the percentage would normally be. I wonder how many people try to sneak in those beers they dont sell as singles.

    It is stealing.

If you are OK with stealing, get after it. Most people in a civilized society would probably think it's wrong though.

I'm guessing most places probably charge the same price for them. Both are year round options, and have the same ABV. I know I've paid the same price for a pint of each.

I was burned years ago when half the six pack of Bell's Expedition Stout was replaced with Amber Ale. So I basically paid for Expedition and got stuck with three lower priced beers I didn't really want, while some happy d-bag got the Stout at a discount. Now, I always check bottles to protect myself from assholery.

Thanks, I'm relieved... and actually, I didn't mind comparing the two of them. They were both exceptional.

Stealing is stealing, even if you can get away with it. If the store that you're shopping at doesn't offer a mix sixer, here's a thought, don't shop there. Go to a store that does have a mix sixer. My thoughts on the guys you saw? He was a selfish a-hole in the store and probably everywhere else he goes too.
