And if so, are there places in/near Torrington? I'm not looking for anything particularly fancy, just an assortment of locals.

There are several stores you can do this at, but I don't know the Torrington area, sorry! I've always considered Manchester Wine and Liquor the best for this because they allow you to take any single off the shelf or from the cooler. You don't have to stick to what's on the singles shelf.

Crazy Bruce's in Bristol is a good bet for you. Lots of options in their mix a six.

Thanks for the recommendations! Found some new to me beers from Jacks Abby and others at the local Big Y. Let me see if I can squeeze in a trip to Bristol.

I always hit up CT Bev on the Berlin Turnpike in Newington - any beer, even in boxes, can be used to make a mixed 6.

Liquor Depot on Route 202 on the Simsbury/Avon line does mix packs. Not too far from Torrington.

Manchester Wine and Liquor is awesome for mixed six packs. It feels kind of awkward to break up a six pack on the shelf but they encourage it.
