Firestone Walker has their anniversary releases, which are all blends.

I dont normally mix beer but when I do, I mix with Baltika #6 Porter.

Surprising how tasty it is paired with even a lowly Michelob Lager.

If you go to any of the Rogue Public Houses they do all types of mixes from the snickers(chocolate and hazelnut) to the I-Scared(Brutal topped with I2) to the Scab(Mogul topped with Old Crusty) and a ton more. It's pretty cool. I've seen bartenders with whole lists of the mixes Rogue does.

One mix that I've been enjoying frequently over the last few months is a 50/50 mix of Terrapin Moo Hoo and either Wake & Bake or Bell's Java Stout.

Holy hell that's like a $30 black and tan!
I really should try more mixing, being a fan of the fact that the results are generally going to be very different than anything commercial. The bartender at Oaken Barrel here in Indy suggested my fiance and I try their razz wheat mixed with their porter and that was fantastic, chocolate/raspberry/coffee flavors go well together.

I tend to mix liquor/artificial flavorings in my beers if I am bored, it helps me come up with new homebrew ideas, as well as check off certain combinations on my "NEVER BREW THIS" list.

    1/3 Wachusett Blueberry, 2/3 Berkshire Brewing R.I.S.
    1/4 Lindeman's Framboise, 3/4 Southern Tier Chocolat
Had what was left over from the tap line of Unearthly and filled the pint glass with Pumking, was petty strange but good.

Even though its not all brews it was surprisingly good from Coddington Brew Pub, 3/4 of their Summer Wheat then filled almost to the top with Woodchuck Cider and then topped with Chambor.

A cheap solid blend I used to do was New belgium trippel, and Sierra Nevada torpedo. Set the glass on the table and slowly pour both the beers into the glass at the same time making sure both streams coming from the bottles are crossing and mixing before they hit the bottom of the glass.

Well long story short, me and my buddy had an epic week of binge drinking and had that. I'd recommend it!

I recently poured a La Fin Du Monde with a Trios Pistoles by mistake, due to cooking and talking. I was however pleased with this mixed brew. Has anyone else tried or performed a mix of different brews, with any other beers?

I mix Southern Tier's Creme Brulee into a large amount of my stouts and porters that I drink regularly and the result has always been fantastic.

This seems to be a reaccuring once a month thread.

Answer is always no. Im a purist. However at my birthday in May I made a black and tan with Black Tuesday and Cantillon Bio. Very nice.

    Cheers!

Although I've never done it, I'd try it. I buy so many new beers that I'd rather enjoy them for what they are instead of mixing them.

I did a 2/3's pour of Alley Kat Pumpkin Pie and 1/3 of Old Yale Sasquatch Stout; a very taste Pumpkin Stout.

The pour the other way, a Black Pumpkin if you wish, didn't work quite as well, but was still very drinkable.

Those are clearly 2 top notch brews you mixed. Was the combo better than either single? I tried a mix last month at a Sam Adams promo table at a ballgame where they mixed their Boston Lager with their cider and it was actually quite nice. I doubt I would do it again for myself; however, I see this as a good way to help newbies (especially ladies) to develop an appreciation for the wonderful flavors offered in craft brews. Purists may see this as blasphemy; which I don't entirely reject, however, this can be a good way to gradually develop & educate the taste buds. It's done with wine by mixing grapes and even whiskeys, such as scotch, to create a good blend. Drink what tastes good !

King Henry + Utopias = King Utopias. Seriously, try it sometime if you ever get a chance. Pure liquid excellence.
