Funny you mention this combo, I was coming in to post the combo I had at my local bar of Rubeus and Sexual chocolate.

I kinda like the idea, I'm a fan of Black and Tans to begin with so I'd check it out if offered here.

My aunt mixes Allagash White with Framboise and love them! I think its called a dirty gash, but no one will tell her that!

I will mix cheap beers, but not the good stuff. Neither would I mix and match two paintings that I liked. Seems to me that what mixing beers is.

I would take Terrapin Wake & Bake and mix it with Terrapin Chocolate Milk Stout and freeze it and make popsicles...Turned out pretty fantastic! A different approach to mixing.

I think mixing two cheap beers would result in a even worse beer. For the good stuff it might be nice, but I'm not a fan of black and tans.

Earlier today I put a few splashes of Boulevard's Saison-Brett in my Oude Tart w/cherries, I do that often with bretty beers to add a little more complexity to many American sours.

Just now I added an ounce of Grey Monday to 6 oz of Oude Tart w/cherries and it's another great combo. When I finish this I'll do the opposite, add 1 oz of OT cherries to 6 oz of Grey Monday.

I can't imagine not doing stuff like this unless the beers are 5/5 or better.

So last night I mixed the 12% Barbapapa stout with Clown Shoes Space Cake IPA and it was amazing. A few months ago I also mixed Founders RIS with Lagunitas Undercover and had great results. I have yet to try the lauded Dogfish "Heaven and Hell" combo. Just wondering, what other ridiculous combinations have people come up with that worked?

I feel that rubeus with any sour would be pretty much amazing.

Also, I don't see why this would ever be considered wrong. Lambic brewers have done it for centuries.

My gut instinct is to find the practice appalling, wanna-be purist that I am, but then I considered that the Firestone Anniversary beers are all huge blends (not to mention geuezes, by definition), and those are tasty as hell, so I'm open to the idea.

    Firestone XVII, by the way:

Bravo (13.6% ABV) - Aged in Bourbon and Brandy barrels

-Imperial Brown Ale (30% of the final blend)

Stickee Monkee (15.3% ABV) - Aged in Bourbon and Whiskey barrels

-English Barley Wine (25% of the final blend)

Velvet Merkin (8.7% ABV) - Aged in Bourbon barrels

-Traditional Oatmeal Stout (15% of the final blend)

Parabola (12.8% ABV) - Aged in Bourbon barrels

-Russian Imperial Oatmeal Stout (15% of the final blend)

Double Double Barrel Ale (12.0% ABV)- Aged in retired Firestone Union barrels

-Double strength English Pale Ale (8.0% of the final blend)

Helldorado (11.5% ABV)- Aged in Bourbon and Brandy barrels

-Blonde Barley Wine (4.0% of the final blend)

Wookey Jack (8.3% ABV)- 100% Fresh, dank and hoppy, stainless steel fermentation

-Black Rye India Pale Ale (3.0% of the final blend)

I mixed oracle with dark horse raspberry ale. The mix cuts down the raspberry to more mellow level and the raspberry eliminates the boozy taste of oracle. Good stuff

A few years ago I was fixated on mixing IPAs with fruit beers. I remember mixing 3/4 Green Flash West Coast IPA with 1/4 Abita Purple Haze once. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Maybe I'll try it again soon.

Mixing the DFH seasonals like Aprihop, Peche, and Punkin with the 90 Minute is delicious! Highly recommend.

This past weekend at a bottle share I opened the three bottles of Stone Vertical Epic I had (07,08, and 12).

I did about a 40/40/20 mix in a small glass. It was atrocious. I think 12.12.12 ruined the party.

    Summer/Winter Polstice:

3/4 Summer Solstice with 1/4 PtE is delicious, especially if you can get a bartender to mix it for you on tap. During the winter months, try replacing the Summer Solstice with Winter Solstice.

I mixed Alchemist's Rapture and Crusher. Created Crapture. It was quite tasty
