if you want juice flavor why not just have juice. why get an IPA if one doesn't enjoy it just the way it is? I'd understand if it was done to a shitty macro beer but an IPA?!

That was Sure Bet. Pipeworks has been cranking out a ton of fruited IPAs. So far they have done Crimson Snapper (blood orange DIPA), Scarlet Betta (raspberry DIPA), Spotted Puffer (passion fruit DIPA), Killer Queen (Blueberry DIPA). They did one with spruce tips as well. All very good.

Have done this with some IPAs that I took too long to drink and are past their prime.

I don't think I could get behind this. Personally, I always intend to enjoy the beer the way the brewery wanted me to enjoy it.

I observed the Tangerine Soul Style and Passion Fruit (something or other) beer from Green Flash at Total Wine yesterday... the ticker in me sez "must try" but the rational guy inside me sez "holy hell, is this what I'm going to have to deal with seeing now and forever?"

You can still do both. Buy a sixer of your local favorite. Try one of those with something added. They're getting your money regardless.

Haven't tried juice with an IPA. I tried adding adding a little bourbon to a Bell's 30th and it was nice.

I wouldn't do it to a good IPA...but it might actually help a shitty IPA...there are definitely plenty of those on the market these days.

In the spirit of this thread, I decided to give this a shot with the last 3-4oz of an SOS.

I tasted after every squeeze. I went up to 4 squeezes total. Honestly I'm quite surprised. It turned out rather nicely.

Some funny quotes in this thread.

    "Pussification of beer"

"I could never get behind that"

    "Why mess with an IPA?"

Maybe I want some OJ in my OH IPA when I'm hungover and stoned on a saturday morning. If the German's do it, then it must have some anchor within logic or reason. Grapefruit juice is delicous as is. So are IPA's. That's simple math people.

A thread that generates a thought. Forget the fruit, any decent IPA is fruity/ piney floral enough, forget the fruit and go retro. Back to the 60s, how about maybe 1/4 oz bourbon to a slightly average IPA , or an over the hill IPA? Kills the overly malty thing. Any good IPA need not apply here.

I've never added any fruit or fruit juice to an IPA, but I am a big fan on IPAs brewed with fruit. Personally would say try brewing your own IPA with fruit. I did a session IPA that was fermented with peaches and it was pretty good.

Been doing this for years. the infamous beermosa.. gives the mimosa a run for its money and to those that said beer was not meant to be mixed. I highly disagree, life is all about experimentation. A lot of the essential oils in the hops are lost through sheer shelf life, grapefruit juice breathes life back into these beers and makes them palatable again.
