I can help out a bit, for example if you share a spreadsheet with me i can put in some work building it up, fleshing it out; regularly updated data entry i'm much less reliable though. I'll also be almost completely offline from this Sunday to Tuesday, so nothing immediately pressing please.

 

Building the spreadsheet is the hardest part (for me), so if you could help with that it would be great. I do update my NBA league somewhat irregularly, but it gets done. It all depends how busy I am and whether I'm travelling for work.

 

After thinking about it (for not very long), I've decided the fairest thing to do is to put a the numbers 13-30 in a random number generator. The number that comes up is where the new team will draft. Some people will move up, no one will move down.

 

Random number generator came up with #15. So 14 and 15 now move up a spot, so on the clock is @bigaltemple

Padres, Royals, Cardinals, White Sox, Dodgers, A's, Red Sox, Mariners, Braves, Cubs, Tigers, and Angels are taken.

Hopefully by the time we get to #15 the replacement will be solved.

 

I'm fairly adept at spreadsheets so I can help out also. I'll start working on one tomorrow morning.

@Syracuse12 what can I do to make this thing better? I'll have some time tomorrow I can mess with it but besides data entry for the LIFs already offered, I don't know what it'd need.

 

Not much right now, we might have an issue with tracking some of the LIFs. Now that I'm running this show, I realize what a pain in the ass tracking my BIF would be (mini-straight up or down 3 games in a row). I'm probably going to come up with a different LIF that wouldn't be a disaster to track.

 

I was prob gonna add a data sheet for each team and have a score for and score against column. Each row would be the game played and the master sheet would do a lookup for each number and mark it off if it finds it.

 

Shouldn't be that hard to track.

 

I'm not interested in doing it, but you (or someone) could write code for that much easier than tracking it by hand.

You're better at spreadsheets than me. Carry on sir, let me know if there's any gruntwork I can do to help. edit: I'm thinking a sheet with score for and another with score against would be better.

I'm assuming your call on the master is something like if(a1:a162=1,x,o) with 'a' being the row each team is on, and '=1' being the score of 1. If you do for/against in the same sheet, that if statement gets a lot trickier.

edit:I don't know how to put "a1:a162" inside that if statement; I know what I wrote isn't right, but you get the gist.

Apparently spreadsheets can do more than I know. I'll leave the set up of the spreadsheet to you.

Thanks, I've at least had practice with the NBA pool, but I won't lie, it's a pain to update scores everyday, which is why it doesn't get done on time all the time.
