My little guy is at the U of M Twin Cities and he is flying home for T-day so, other than any Surlys, which are a must, are there any: - good local cans, not Grain Belt, he is flying so weight and breakage might be an issue - any seasonal beers that he should be looking for. He just turned 21, celebrating at the Wisconsin Craft Beer Fest in Milwaukee, so he is learning.
For cans I would recommend Bent Paddle, their cold press black and harness rye IPA are out now and both great. Indeed Stir crazy is as well. I would also recommend a bottle or two of anything from Steel Toe or Fair State.
Surly abrasive is out right now, that is a must. I like lift bridge hop dish and indeed let it roll in addition to the ones mentioned above
Grain Belt (well, others were ignoring your statement about cans, so why not?) Seriously, Piling on with the recommendation of Bent Paddle Cold Press Black, also their 14 degree ESB is wonderful. Summit Hopvale is very good.
agree on the cold press. would also recommend their harness the rye ipa. would also throw castle danger into the mix. maybe their cream ale and ole. surly, of course. furious and abrasive. indeed's double day tripper and let it roll. not sure if you see distribution for tallgrass. if not, they have their barrel aged buffalo sweat and vanilla buffalo sweat available right now. not stellar, but enjoyable. if you consider bottles.. fair state pahlay'ahlay (though i dont know if there are fresh bottles out there, it might all be old by now). steel toe's lunker. toppling goliath pseudosue.
well i got a text before i can read this post and i have coming to me for T Day, a 4 pack of Abrasive, somehow he got for $9.99 plus a 10% discount, a 4 pack of Flat Earth Porter that he tried and liked and approximately 10-12 loose beers.
Well I for sure would bring back some lost lake. But seriously you can't get tallgrass in new York and their beers a all good. For local Minnesota beers summit has some great beers, not sure if they're canning, and schells makes some good lagers, firebrick is excellent.
Summit cans most of their lineup: Hopvale Organic, Summit EPA, Pilsener, Sága IPA, Maibock, Oktoberfest, Winter Ale, but, unfortunately, not Great Northern Porter.
