MN Brewers Guild Winterfest 2017

A few changes to this year's event, it's back down to one night again and they moved it from St. Paul to Minneapolis to be in the Sky Club at Target Field. Looks like the usual suspects will be there again as well as most of the new up-and-comers like Forager and Disgruntled but no Junkyard listed (as of yet). For the sparkling new breweries I see Utepils is listed but no Blackstack or Starkeller but then again I'm assuming that last one will be at the Schell's booth regardless.

Tickets are still available and while pricey, you can get your pours of Barley John's Dark Knight/Dark Knight Returns/Rosie’s Old Ale cheaper than a growler. Plus, you get to watch them somehow walk away with the award for the best beer by totally not stuffing the ballot box!

This is always my favorite Minnesota festival but I'm disappointed that it's back down to one night again. I liked having the heavyweights there two nights, it gave me a chance to sample what I wanted when I wanted without rushing or overdoing it to make sure I got everything in. It also let me focus on the smaller ones since they were only there for one of the two nights. I still don't think I would have discovered how awesome Junkyard was last year if every brewery was present for one three hour window. Guess I'll have to go back to enjoying multiple pours of Peach Treat from LynLake while everyone else waits in line for a BA Darkness pour.

 

You're doing God's work sir. All is forgiven is that expansion means more crowler availability. I may not get up there but I have neighbors that do fairly regularly. Once I pointed them to jump across the river from Fargo to you they've been hooked just as quickly as I was. Just fill those crowlers up with the sours by this summer and I'll be a happy camper.
