Headed to Perdido this Thursday and was planning on going to Pensacola again for beer, but it's a little bit more out of the way. Not looking for anything too crazy. Just wondering a few things. Does Founders make it to Mobile and has more Cigar City stuff made it to the Pensacola area since this time last year? Stores on my radar are either Cottage Hill in Mobile or Fusion or Aloha Liquors near P cola, or Paradise liquors in P-Cola, but the reviews seem pretty bogus. I'd like to avoid Four Winds this time around because it was damn pricey. Just looking for suggestions as to where to go, maybe somewhere closer to Perdido hopefully. Also looking to eat and drink at Hopjacks in either city, is there a big difference between those locations? Sorry for the million questions, but any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Cheers,
    Alex

    Hey Alex,

Unfortunately Founders does not make it to Pensacola. I love Cigar City, but we traditionally only can find Maduro or Jai Alai around here. I will find random big bottles from them from time to time, but nothing on a consistent basis.

Definitely hit up Hopjacks in Pensacola... yes, I'm biased, but they have a lot more taps, and are slightly cheaper. Also, if you have time, hit up the Pensacola Bay Brewery for some of our local brew. You'll get a free glass with each beer!

Four Winds IS expensive, but try Richey's East Liquors a couple doors down... you'll find a decent bottle selection, and at prices that are much cheaper than Four Winds.

Founders doesn't make it to Mobile either. I don't think that they have started distributing bellow Birmingham yet. We also only get Maduro and Jai Alai but that is all the Cigar City.

Cottage Hill package is the best place to stop in Mobile. They have around 15-20 taps that you can get growler (plastic milk jugs) fills and you can also drink what ever they have in the cigar bar in the back. The bottle selection is the best in Mobile. Usually if it distributes in this area they have it. As jazzman said, Richey's East is the best place as far as bottle selection and price in Pensacola. If you go to Pensacola you should stop by Pensacola Bay Brewery. They have a nice porter and you can get growlers (non milk jug) and pay for a souvenir glass and get a free beer (stupid law).

I also agree with jazzman on Hopjacks. The food is about the same at both but the beer selection is a lot better in Pensacola. The selection in Mobile is solid but there are few different breweries that distribute to Florida that we don't get. We just recently started getting Good People in Mobile so I would pick up a sixer of their IPA if you stop in Mobile.

Stick with Pensacola for the beer and the selection at their hopjacks.

Awesome, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks for all the advice everyone. Looks like I'll be stopping in both though because I've been wanting to try good people for a long time. Thanks again
