Would the oxidation be noticeable in 2-3 week old cans? The batch I was referring to was pretty fresh so I didn't consider oxidation to be the culprit to the unpleasant flavors.

Sipping on a glass of Palace of Cracked Heads, and just want to say its amazing. Truly a perfect beer.

Drinking a can of Booming Rollers canned 2/17 and can confirm a drastic aroma drop off from when I drank some a few weeks ago. Still tastes good but the hop aroma doesn't punch you in the face anymore.

FYI for anyone getting the new batch of Booming, carry the 4-pack from the bottom. Two cans slipped out of the plastic holder almost immediately after I walked out of the brewery. It's not the usual thick plastic holder.

It'd be noticeable even quicker than that on certain bottles. Just depends how much oxygen exchange there is in each can

Man, Citra is a vicious temptress, no? Really beautiful smelling, but it seems finicky as hell, and I've come to loathe the rash of Citra bombs seemingly every brewery is releasing these days, if only because it can seem to get funky fast. Done well, though, it's glorious indeed.

Really interesting thoughts from Jacob re: oxidation and Citra interactions -- I could definitely see it. It's just such a unique hop. Kudos to those willing to do battle with it, but it takes a deft hand for sure.

I'm curious to hear which Citra beers you've had that have been "funky" (aside from BR).

I should probably clarify "funky" -- not funk like saison/wild funk, funk like perceived off flavor funk. The one that comes to mind is PseudoSue. I've had two bombers now and each one left me wondering what the heck I'm missing (since everyone else seems to love it). One was a little shy of two months, another just under a month old, both had that oddly fruity oxidative note (though I didn't perceive it as diacetyl, as Jacob suggested). It can almost start give off a scent, to my nose anyway, of rotting fruit, a little damp/musty almost.

I've got it with Fortunate Islands occasionally too, though I think wheat-based beers can have that somewhat damp note sometimes, so I didn't consider it was perhaps enhanced by the Citra usage in that beer.

Jacob, i love the 22 oz bottles. Bottling home brew today and the lables come off so easy, much better than ballast point, nobel and alpine... also, the beer inside was fantastic. Thanks!

I hear you on that. The worst labels to get off bottles are from Pliny bottles...absolutely hate removing them, but love having a 16oz format bottle on hand for homebrew too.

While some probably going to be upset 1 bottle limit, I'm glad as there will more of a chance to grab one and others as well.

One bottle? Dang. I never make my wife buy beer for me, but I might have to make an exception here.

Or maybe league members get extra?

I agree, but if you have diacetyl precursor, alpha acetolactate, in the beer after removing the yeast, and expose that beer to air, it will oxidize alpha acetolactate to diacetyl rapidly. So, one could have no air uptake in the unitank, and if you bottling line has a bit of air, you could get diacetyl.

That being said, every "bad" can of Blazing I have had has a muted aroma/flavor, not diacetyl.

The only one that had a 1 bottle limit the last go around was the Coffee, i believe. And that was something in the 400 range and sold out in less than a 4 minutes or so. Everything else had at least double or triple that and lasted a bit longer.

I'm a-okay with the 1 bottle limit. It does mean it'll spread the love out some to more.

Forget the barrel-aged whatevers, how about that 20-can variety pack? Pretty slick option for parties and what not.

Email blast went out without mention of any increased allocation for league members. Totally understandable but a little disappointing, been looking forward to these ever since the awesome tasting but 'lightly carbed' first batch.

I'd actually be curious if Jacob has any future plans for the League, I recall he said a while back that it was up in the air as to whether it would be renewed, continue on in its original form, or...? Considering the laundry list of other shit he's dealing with I wouldn't expect it to be addressed any time soon, more of an idle curiosity than anything else.
