That explains why I was never any good with the games when I tried them.

I am going to pick-up my bottles on Saturday the 6th, anyone interested in doing a IP trade either on Saturday or during the week while I am in town?

Bought the Caribbean w/ Vanilla Bean and Nicaraguan w/ Rum Barrel aged Coffee this morning but now I'm wishing that I picked up the whole set . I have a full set of the three Bourbon Barrel Aged versions (Regular, Coffee and Cocoa/Coconut) that I'd be willing to trade for Regular Caribbean, Regular Nicaraguan and Nicaraguan w/ Cocoa and Coconut IP on Thursday bat the release. Any takers? ... Or at least a one for one Bourbon Cocoa/Coconut for Rum Cocoa/Coconut swap..

I've decided to mostly eliminate these types of beers from my life but it does make me little sad not to have bought any. Even though I have the money I've determined only for myself that these types of beers are starting to come to fast and furious. The way I figure it I can still enjoy the chase when it comes to sours. Modem Tones makes great beer. Hope everyone enjoys their beer.

Had to subject myself to to only buying the variants on this go around. Two vanilla and two coconut. It was a measly attempt at saving money haha

I decided to try the Nicaraguan w/ Rum Barrel aged Coffee last night and thought I'd share my opinion.

The closest thing I can compare it to is BCBCS, from the look, to the smell, to the taste. If you've had BCBCS, you'll have a good idea of what this tastes like, which is why I'm comparing the two.

The MPNRBC has a great coffee smell, which is a bit stronger than BCBCS. The taste is quite similar as well, except that it has a bit of what I would call "deep fruit" to it. Honestly, I can't pinpoint what the flavor was, but it probably would be what the inside of a rum barrel smells like after aging. The mouth feel was a little thinner that BCBS, but there was a lot of carbonation. The carbonation was a bit much for me on the throat feel, but that's probably just personal preference. There was also none of the "fecal" quality that others spoke of with the MPBC.

I think it was best right out of the fridge. As it warmed up about mid-way between fridge and room temperature The taste changes to where I debated about putting it back in the fridge. However, once it closer to room temp the mouth feel was smoother and creamier.

All in all, @ModernTimesJacob and/or the brewmaster did an excellent job. If you were able to buy one (or have it at the brewery), you will not be disappointed. I hope that someday MT will be able to ramp up production and bring down the cost in the future.

Just as a guess I'm pretty sure this person thinks way to much while they are drinking beer.

Have any of you gone to a Modern Times "Release Party" before? With traffic I'm about 45 minutes away so I've always just picked up my bottles before when I'm in the area within that 2 month period. Do they put any of the releases on tap?

I won't be in town until Saturday but I am hoping they will have some stuff left over to taste

They usually put all of them on tap, though it is conceivable that since there was so little of the Nicaraguan Rum Barrel (sans coffee) that might not be available. In the last release party, I can't remember if you had to order a full taster flight or if you could get them individually (though I think you could - I'd pity the fool that would make Sebo drink a coffee stout).

It was available both ways - a flight of 3 or 4oz pours, or an individual pour of 7oz. I don't recall which way was more advantageous as far as price per oz, I think it was individual pours.

was on the road on the way to FWIBF. Stopped to log on and get these. Showed "Sold Out" immediately. I tried for about 5 minutes and gave up. Sucks to now hear there was a glitch and I may have got on a few minutes later.

Yup. I'm in the same boat. I stopped and then saw all the posts about selling put already so I gave up...To make things worse I could've probably gotten my vanilla bottle, but instead, I added the stupid tote bags to my cart...yeah...lovely. Oh well, more $ to spend on home sour home.

    Hey Jacob,

What exactly are you guys aging in Buffalo Trace barrels?

We only have one barrel from Buffalo Trace; it's the Old Weller barrel we got from Seven Grand. It's on its second use, and it has Monsters' Park in it. All the rest of our bourbon barrels are from Heaven Hill.

    Cheers & thanks,
