I love that glass so much. That is a lot of Monsters' Park in there, like 18oz, I think. That'll take you someplace special.

 

Just drinking my Protocosmos, ehhh its good but I'll just drink this one bottle and go back to my regularly scheduled intake of Blazing World.

 

Feel the same way -- still haven't had anything from MT that has eclipsed Blazing for me.

anyone know the shelf life of a Booming Roller? I bought 2 4 packs, had 4 last week, and then cracked one open last night. Was shocked how it went from tasting delicious just 4 days ago, to almost undrinkable.

Both 4 packs were bought at the same time and from the same store, same canned on date, and were basically identical and treated the exact same way. 2/17/15 is the canned date.

Do they really turn that quickly or was the can I had last night some sort of outlier? Going to have another tonight when I get home, but I have a feeling I will be disappointed again.

 

Can you elaborate on "undrinkable"? Bad cans/bottles will happen to every brewery, not everything can be caught by the QA/QC process.

 

Citra is one of those hops that drops off a cliff quickly in my experience. I had a can last night and it was already a little faded, but no where near undrinkable. Just keep them ice cold and buy them from places that kept them cold.

 

No hop flavor at all. Tasted like straight malt but had a sourness to it as well, almost like a sauerkraut or boiled cabbage taste left in the mouth after swallow. I wish I would have taken notes last night while I was drinking, but I was too disappointed that such an amazing beer wasn't tasting right.

I am hoping it was just the can, and not the whole 4 pack. They were so good though.

 

I wouldn't call it undrinkable but I noticed a fall off with this beer greater than I've experienced with any other IPA that I can remember. Had some the friday of the release week and was blown away by how good it was, but just a week or so later it wasn't the same beer. Still good, but the citra explosion was absent.

 

I drank a can last night as my dinner.

Didn't taste like cabbage to me...

 

seeing this get bumped made me think Monsters was on sale. now i am sad

 

That sounds more like a bad can than a falling off.

 

I've heard several reports of cans that are muted, herbal, or generally bad. No idea how widespread or isolated it actually is, but if it's just bad cans, there are quite a few floating around. I've got a couple left that I'm curious to try now.
