Modern Times cans

No plans for bottling Monsters' Park, but along similar lines, we'll be putting an imperialized version of Black House into rye barrels next week. Should be able to release a barrel and non-barrel version in the fall. Mostly bottles, a little draft.

@ModernTimesJacob I saw that there are events this weekend in OAK and SF...any chance this means we will start seeing cans in regular distro in the city? If so that would be awesome news...

 

I wish. We just don't have the capacity. Honestly, I never expected that we'd sell so much beer just in Southern California. We recently doubled our fermentation capacity, and we still can't meet local demand. We're doubling it again this summer, but we'll have to wait and see how that pans out. Tentatively, I'm hoping we can start distributing beer up there in early 2015.

You mean they make a mess shaking up the cans and then opening them?

 

Well all the more reason to make periodic trips to San Diego and patiently count down the months!

Saw on MT's Facebook page cans of Blazing World floating around Trader Joe's in SD. Anyone see Black House/Fortunate/Loma on shelves too, or just Blazing?

 

I've picked up Fortunate Islands at the La Jolla TJ on many occasions, though I haven't looked in the past two weeks.

 

Is SD county running low on Modern Times supply?
I can get any of the main 4 beers at anytime from just about any decent beer store in Ventura Co.

 

Oh, no, no - not at all - just happen to be heading to SD this week and have a couple of TJ's nearby at my disposal. Figured it'd be an easy way to snag some while getting some groceries (and it's always nice to be able to break up a pack, if that's your fancy).

 

Phalanx should be around in Bottles soon. Loved the subtle peach hints on it.

 

Phalanx bottles will be available at both tasting rooms on Thursday. Should start appearing on shelves around SoCal the week after. We're bottling twice as much Phalanx as we did Oneida, so there'll be plenty to go around. The second batch is tasting really, really nice: drier, lighter in color & body, and a bit hoppier than the batch currently on draft.

The best way to make this happen is to ask for it at the store as often as possible. It really does make a huge difference. There are Trader Joe's in San Diego that have picked up our beer because a customer requested it. Just be persistent and speak up, and it'll totally happen. You guys have a lot more power in that regard than we do.
