Here are two IPAs that I have been interested in trying out. I have had both Mojo IPA and centennial IPA, I dont remember liking the centennial IPA much though, but I have herd alot about Founders Double Trouble. I need help deciding between these two beers. whats their main difference. Which should I buy?

Double Trouble would be my choice every time.

double trouble is good but it seemed like this years batches where a bit hot, that said I would go with hopslam instead.

Can't tell you about the Mojo stuff, but one of the reasons you might not have cared for Centennial is you just don't care for Centennial hops. I'm not a fan of it either, but love most of their other offerings.

Double Trouble, to put it in the words of a friend and beer manager, is like getting punched in the face with a grapefruit.

I thought that they used Centennial IPA as the base for double trouble?

They might. I don't know enough about it to confirm or deny. However, Double Trouble and Centennial are worlds apart.

I think it uses some Centennial, but it also has a bunch of other hops in it if I remember correctly.

And Double Trouble puts Mojo to shame. Go Double Trouble.

Double Trouble is way more satisfying. Mojo Risin is kinda boozy and simply not as tasty.. all IMHO of course.

With the large variation in ABV I am not sure "base beer" is an appropriate term, I am not certain the recipes are that similar. I do believe Founders uses Summit hops in Double Trouble, this produces a bit of a dirty resinous flavor that you certainly won't find in Centennial.

Not even a choice. Double Trouble is one of the finest DIPA's...... Mojo is barely average in my opinion.

Last year I had both for the first time and remember liking Mojo Risin way better. I plan on reviewing both here shortly. It will be interesting for me to see if I feel the same this year.

Double Trouble is the best DIPA around IMO.

I'm drinking Double Trouble right now. I could've gotten Mojo Risen but didn't even think about it. DT is better and cheaper. Win, win.

They aren't even similar if you ask me. And DIPAs don't really have "base beers" like Kzoo said.

although I see I am the minority, I have to go with risen. i've had both within the past few weeks, and even though double trouble was really good, I thought risen was significantly more enjoyable.
