Anyone else ever open their primary only to find a small amount of mold on a yeast floater?

Depends on what it looks like. Krausen can look kind of groty sometimes. Got a pic and an explanation of taste?

Thankfully, I have yet to endure the misfortune of mold... *Knockin' on wood*

Unfortunately I did not snap a pic. The taste is excellent which is why I racked it over to secondary. It was most definitely white mold on the yeast and/or surface of the beer. I did find it interesting that mold would form in that environment, the OG was 1087 and the current gravity was 1018.

Sometimes yeast clumps together forming some kind of white dots atop the wort resembling mold, nothing to worry about, your beer will be just fine

Yes, I'll get mold clumps when I do small test batches and I'm not as careful. If you're used to seeing a normal fermentation the mold colonies are easy to spot. I just scoop them out carefully and discard. For the test batch I typically only bottle a few and sample them within a few weeks. So I never see long term impacts.

aside: I've never had this issue with normal sized batches.
