Molson in US Walmart, that I work at

Molson and Coors merged a few years ago and even prior to that, Molson was at pretty much any store that carried imported beer (at least in my area).

 

Molson beers have been exported to the US since the 1950's - by the 1970s, they were the #2 imported brand in the US - although much of their distribution at that time was limited to northeastern section of the US.

Today, many Molson branded beers sold in the US are brewed in the MillerCoors breweries (read the "fine print" on the label, such as this from a can of Molson Golden).

As noted in the post above, Molson and Coors merged worldwide, and their US division, Coors, merged with Miller here.

 

I still remember the old Molson tag line from the commercials ..."Make it cold and Golden"

 

Ah yes, Molson Golden, man that was livin in highschool.

Molson and Labatt (especially the latter) are huge in Michigan. Labatt is my favorite "damn, that shit sucks, that shouldn't be on BeerAdvocate!" beer.

 

I preferred Molson Canadian but yeah. That was fancy High School drinkin'.

 

Union made, product of the USA. That's gotta be a first for Walmart

Well, we don't know that Molson Golden is one of the Molson beers in that Walmart (I think Molson Canadian and, maybe, Molson XXX are still imported).

What's even more interesting is that they while use "Golden, CO" as the city on the label, obviously, if it's "UNION MADE" it's being brewed at an ex-Miller facility (IAM, IBT or UAW), since the two ex-Coors breweries (Golden and Virginia) remain non-union, AFAIK.

 

At least since Mr. Sam passed on, if not a little bit before that.

yeah, the heirs to Sam's throne have really douched up the whole operation.

 

Yeah man! When we wanted to drink something "extra special" we shelled out the money for sixes of Molson Golden...under 3 bucks a six back in the late 70's. Those were the days!

 

Ice cold Molson ice was my go to in high school. It gave me just the right amount of international class that the ladies seemed indifferent to

 

Many Molson options everywhere around here, but I'm about 2 hours from the Canadian border. Molson Ice was hot in the 90's...higher ABV, bang for your buck.
I am not a fan. Would go Moosehead if I wanted that style beer (Canadian lager).

My dads on a Labatt kick, I want to say he mentioned 30 pks he buys in NJ where the alcohol taxes are much lower. All these beers mentioned are decent AAL brews.

 

Was never a Molson man, but I do miss Labatt Blue/Blue Light from back in my early drinkin' Michigan days.
