just heard of this beer and can't find a lot of info on it. Anyone traded for it lately? 1:1 with limited locals? Cost per?
Brewery only release. 2bottles/person limit. $20/bottle. 300-400 total bottles, if I remember correctly (I'm sure somebody has a more precise count). I sent one to a random BA in South Dakota; sent another to a RTP, so no idea what it's going for. This should have more info on all of the "weekday" BA releases from Cycle last month: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/2015-barrel-aged-week-at-pegs-cantina-cycle.255547/
I believe the bottle count was in the mid-300's... like 336 or 360. Can't remember exactly. I do know this one had about 20-25 people that were allowed another 2 bottles when general sales opened up, so there were a handful of people that got 4. I think the only other day this only happened on Tuesday (though bottle limit was 1 per) , and I know all of the other days sold out without going to general sales.
Try having it before going off hearsay. Not thin. Too much cherry. Not know what talking about. Serious though. It wasn't thin, it needs time for the cherry to balance out to integrate with the vanilla. Sent one to a buddy in Oregon and he loved it
Just going off of what my buddies said. I guess it was vanilla that was not prominent, rather than cherry. The consensus from a bunch of people was it was nothing spectacular but everybody has a different palate and taste.
Having consumed each of the Cycle weekday beers on draft during TBBW, I would put this one at the back of the pack. By no means does that mean it was a bad beer. It hit me as thin for Cycle standards, and I too thought a little light on vanilla/heavy on cherry. I feel like the key is that there were at least 3 other beers from Cycle that week that were phenomenal (Thursday, Tuesday, and then Wednesday being my order of preference). This leads Monday, and to a lesser degree Friday, being viewed as less than phenomenal... but less then phenomenal can mean great, good, above average, and sure... even bad. My point is, stand-alone, without Tuesday-Friday, this beer would create some limited buzz, it just doesn't create the buzz of some of the other beers released that week because of the order of preference most have when it comes to the 5 Cycle released that week.
