It is a terrible BA Imperial Stout

I went with a friend whos monkish HYPEBEAST . He didn't even finish his pour, but i did.

Every sip was a pain in the ass for me. It tasted like nothing but sugar.

it blows my mind that this is the kind of "ba stout " people rave about
I feel like im in a simulation .

I immediately went for a lager right after i finished which i give a 3/5 for sure. i forgot what it was but man..... that BALTS is straight up thick sugar malt :nauseated_face:

Yeah, I still haven't popped a bottle, lol. I'm never looking for a sugar-bomb at the end of a work day. Still holding out hope the bottle will have more...beer flavor and barrel heat.

Does Monkish allow proxies? Saw that 12ish is coming soon. Looks great!

Traditionally, they have not allowed for proxies, no.

What are the chances of actually being able to buy a bottle online during the presale? Do they sell out in seconds?

Who knew this year would be year of the stout releases for Monkish. Multiple years with no BA stout drops then boom 3 right in a row. Let’s keep this train going.

Scored my two. Non-adjuncts are my jam nowadays, along with just coffee stouts.

I think it's gross that people buy up multiples and then sell them online for profit. Get a fucking life, losers.

    Just one idiot's opinion.

    Discuss.

Meh. As a former hype train chaser, I’ve moved past this mentality personally. What other people do with their beer I literally don’t care about anymore. I don’t trade anymore, I don’t go to festivals, and most nights I finish off my evening with a Coors Banquet, not a craft beer. If I happen to snag a barrel aged release that I want, then awesome. If I don’t, there is literally no shortage of great barrel aged releases elsewhere or at the very least coming soon into the future. The great thing with beer is it never stops coming out. There’s plenty to go around, and around, and around, and around…

If a fool wants to be parted with their money by spending $200 on a bottle of beer, that’s on them.

Replace Coors with High Life, and my response is exactly the same.

I think both Coors and High Life are disgusting, mostly because I have never liked Pilsners. I'd go with a Bud Heavy way before either.

Dropped in over the weekend. Happy to have Small Earth back. BCR is a nice addition to the taps. Both Small Earth and BCR are excellent saisons. Twelve-ish was the main attraction but Small Earth and BCR stole the show for me.

Jus' curious...can your taste buds discern any scentilla of PVW in Twelvish? (haven't tried it yet) Been noticing mo' n mo' that beers with claims of being aged in barrels for up to four years don't have the kind of sharpness I would expect.

I doubt anyone can with most barrels .

All i could taste was sugary glop in that 'stout' and it smelled as such

I last tried PVW about 8 years ago, so I have no idea what it tastes like compared to any other non-wheated bourbon. It did have very heavy barrel presence, though.

Haven’t been to Los Angeles for vacation since 2019, headed there this week, looks like times have changed. I used to have to get growlers, sometimes I would get lucky with cans. Now looks like loads of cans available. How is the quality now compared to the hyped up years?
