That was great too
Hard to disagree, I went back for re-fills on Glycerin, great day and really fun sharing beers with you guys.
My wife dropped me off right around 1PM, at that point it was pretty quick to get through check in. Had a few with Andrew and met a few board members for the first time, SoCalBeerIdiot and Finnishfox, really well planned out event, beautiful weather and an overall relaxed atmosphere. Time to start planning our off-line at Howling Rays.
Did you like the Palatine Pils ? I had a couple pours, perfect for the warm weather today.
Beautiful day for a walk in beer land.
Awesome hanging out with you today bud
Same here Andrew, really enjoyed it buddy. I really want to get a few of us together for an off-line at Howlin Rays as we were talking about, we'll talk soon about that. Our last one was off the charts fun.
Easily the best beer I had
I agree all the above mentioned beers were standouts. Also some great Triple IPAs, including JFK/Clouds, The Veil 4500, Trillium Ballmer Peak, Tired Hands Guava Pineapple Double Milkshake (okay slightly different style), and Other Half Triple Citra Daydream.
We did a cuvée of 1 part bbt 2 parts little twin stars and that was actually the best thing I had today.
Loved it! Ended up with 5-6 pours and the smoked lager was no slouch either.
Thankx for rubbing that in. Had a milli sip of both, but that sounds amazing. One could wish...
Had a good bit of BBT, but my star was Suarez. I did like three immediate rounds and maybe two more. With the heat of the day, Palatine was just exquisite. The smoked lager was interesting, but by the time I tried it....I was a bit too gone. Forest and Main was also a good booth, also liked Lord Whangdoodle a lot for what it was, a sugar bomb.
Didn't have much of the Monkish stuff, though it wasn't for lack of trying too hard. The line was absolutely bonkers at the back. Though, hats off to Monkish for maintaining a solid line for most of the day.
Too bad I didn't actually talk to any BAs there.
The grounds crew and the employees were seriously on point today. Got prolific with my hugs with the Monkish peeps. Including maybe giving Jairo and Ivan a bit too lingering of one. LOL.
Definitely drank a ton of Suarez as well; I was quite sad when it was gone.
Didn't get a chance to say hi to anyone but glad you all got try and get after the ones you wanted to try. That suarez pils was awesome and, like Izzy mention, Lord W was tasty as hell for what it was lol. Getting to try GN, Trillium, HFS, Cycle, and the stuff OH brought was great too!
Its was stupid hard to find a beer that WASNT good. All the beers they poured were top tier beers. Awesome event. OTB & Me didnt even drink haze for the most part. Sours and BA stouts all day...too bad we couldnt link up, bud was looking for ya.
What's happened to the beer universe when there is zero lines at a HFS booth at a beer tasting ! No kidding, I just casually hung out for about 15 minutes going back and forth with Arthur and Anna. It was joyous !
Ahhh it seems like only yesterday when everyone was roasting HopHead constantly on the forum lol
Didn't try and attend the event... But reading everything made me get a mad case of FOMO
Same thing. But just kept repeating "110 simoleans...110 simoleans...110 simoleans" and real soon, I was a happy little buddha again.
aw, well... there is the stout and tipa w/ cream cans. lol.
Those poor peeps, they have to be exhausted, that's been a jam packed Fri-Sun for the Monk crew.
Lol, ohhh they still roasting... haha
Twin Little Stars was the beer of the fest, IMO. A lot of great beers though. Palatine was really solid - it's a beer I really wish I had 16oz of sitting in the sun yesterday
It was nice to meet a few of you yesterday.
What are the “little items from yesterday” in the Monkmart that they keep mentioning in the tweets today?
Yea, I had this and Hudson Valley's Glycerin with Blackberry and Peach as my WOW factors yesterday. Fun putting a face to the name, it was an amazing party across the board. Now lets hope Henry bottles that bad boy.
they had items like chapsticks, carabiners, chocolate cigar, hop air freshener, hand sanitizer
You missed the Monk Condoms ?
He may be a hazyboi but hes our hazebro.
Dude you woulda been proud of me. Drank mostly sours on Saturday, haha
Kudos to Henry and his team for a spectacular event Saturday.
My only gripe from last year--the lack of bathrooms--was solved this year. I never had to wait for the bathroom Saturday.
There were a couple lines that just never ever died down, which was kind of a bummer but you have to expect that. My strategy was "find the shortest line" and with this taplist, it was a winning strategy.
I did finally stand in line for Twin Little Stars and, holy $#!% it was amazing!!! Best beer of the day, not even close for me (though I did not try any Hudson Valley stuff people are raving on). Easily the best coconut beer I've ever had. 5.0/5.0. Had the line not been so crazy long, I would have gotten multiple refills.
OTB, HopHeads89--good to meet you guys IRL. I imagine we'll be bumping into each other quite a bit in the future. Cheers, guys!
Were you wearing a shirt that had your avatar on it? Cuz if so, I think we brushed by each other at Suarez when they had the smoked lager on.
That was me
don't you mean poser, hey always wondered about your avatar. Are you really a girl or a POSEUR?
I am not an actress from the 1960s, no.
so your not a girl your a guy posing as a actress from the 1960s?
I stopped in yesterday afternoon on the way to LAX. Lucked into the end of the can release AND festival sloppy seconds.
Maybe he meant Phish...
Maybe he meant TROUT ..... Angels baseball jersey.....
