Couldn't really believe people would actually talk back to the employees and owners telling them they can't park there. How stupid do you have to be knowing your car might not be there when you get back out?

Have you seen the type of people that attend Monkish releases? Not surprised at all.

Nah, you're good. Even if there's a can release, night time isn't as bad because you'd have people already gone from buying cans.

In regards to Kallie's post, a similar warning about parking goes out every single time there's a release. People just don't read nor respect the rules. I haven't parked at TCS since the first warning, and usually just take the time to walk from wherever some god or leprechaun or whatever decides that there's street parking. I will say that I've cut across that parking lot though, when walking to and from the car.

Further edit: I do admittedly like it when the parking situation goes sour for people. Like when people are trying to rush through the lot, and one guy just backs up fast out of a spot. That being said, 90% of the times I've been and waited at Monkish, I've been surrounded by pretty decent people that are nice to chat with.

So let me get this straight. Even though since day one when Monkish clearly posted in bright red on their website under releases that that property was totally off limits you parked there anyway.........there you have it people.

    Cheers,

For better, for worse, my first time impression of a Monkish can release - Insert Hip Hop Reference Here.

Had time, so I got to Monkish about 2:15...PM, not AM. And I knew everybody. Not personally, but it was the same crew you can see in Northern California, Illinois, etc. Neckbeards, neckbeards without facial hair, male and female. About 15 people when I got in line, increasing to 50-75 by 3 - probably over 200 peoples by the time I left at 4:30.

Line management was poor. They passed out wrist bands at about 3 pm and all of a sudden, I was 37 in line, not 15. But worse, at release time, Monkish personnel weren't checking the wristbands when the line re-formed inside the tasting room and people jumped into line then, too.

No big deal for me. Whether 15, 37 or 70 in line, I was getting beer. I felt sorry for those at the cutoff point who were assed out because of the line jumpers when Monkish ran out of cans. People who went from being sure they were scoring, to oops, too bad.

The crowd size insured that if you got cans, growlers were problematic because there were separate can and growler lines - unlike places like Green Cheek, that fill crowlers/growlers for people in the can line. Monkish apparently had a growler fill system in place for busy times that involved paying, then being handed a ticket for each growler and waiting off to the side for employees to fill them. Haphazard system. Employees were trying to match numbers on tiny strips of paper with dozens of growlers sitting on a table. If someone ordered two or more growlers, not all were filled consecutively - some people had to wait 15 minutes while one growler was filled, and the others took longer.

Like they say the restaurant biz, Monkish was in the weeds. Do I have a conclusion? Yeah, avoid while busy. Simple. And when they're not, I'll drop in occasionally for some growler fills.

Because the IPAs are mighty fine. Such smoothness and grainy complexity and richness. I can see why people go through the bother, but I can also see why I won't. At least when they're busy.

    Re
I haven't parked there since the FIRST warning. Haven't since. I walk from all the way near Smog on street parking, exclusively. I'll admit it wasn't bright of me to do so, yet, I don't do it now. So, please, tell me how much of a piece I still am? Or does cutting across the parking lot walking still count?

Point of fact, I never visited (nor still visit) their can release schedule on their site. So, as soon as that warning went up in IG, I abided.

Again, tell me how much of a piece I am.

EDIT: Also, as soon as the company put their own sign up, I immediately just reversed and still parked on the street. So, again, am I still wrong? Am I still a hazebro who doesn't give a shit?

that really sucks. some of these people are fucking idiots. I don't understand how you can't hold the crowd accountable swath. it's not that hard to have a little respect. there is clear signage about the parking and Monkish mentions it in every single release. some of these people who are supposed fans of Monkish are morons because they are just going to put Monkish in jeopardy.

if these were 15 year olds and I would sort of understand this kind of behavior but we're talking about 30+ year old hazebros

I didn’t call you a piece of anything nor did I call you a piece of ....... hazebro, I simply asked you a question, you in turn you referred to yourself as the above mentioned, which I guess tells all.

    Cheers.....

I edited your post to reflect you specifically pointed me out that you inferred me directly from my post.

Listen, I'm honestly not all that pissed about it. But trying to assume I don't follow the same rules everyone else has to follow (but some don't) is quite annoying. If you read the rest of my original post, I quickly changed so I wasn't bending any rule at all. I parked as close as allowed, while not being in the driveway of any business.

Monkish had a security guard monitoring the TCS parking lot yesterday making sure no one was parking there. Seems like that's going to be the new protocol, which is great. Don't understand why this is an issue to some people. Anytime I've been able to make it to a release I park about a 5-minute walk away, off at 205th and Gramercy. Have never had a problem finding street parking, plus I enjoy the walk. There's some really lazy folks out there.

Funny that they had to dedicate an IG post to remind people to not be assholes?
I personally found it sad. That "craft beer life" though.....

Serious question. I wonder what happened to these taster glasses?

if you've seen some of the people in the can lines then it makes sense why they don't want to walk 5 minutes, know what I mean?

Savages, this behavior sure as hell will never take place at a can release in SF.

I for one applaud the efforts of private businesses finally hiring some security to deal with the rampant homeless problem that is afflicting the streets and parking lots of Torrance.
