I talk to someone who works there, and while it's not Henry, the consensus was that it tastes better a couple of days out for IPAs. My friends and I discussed the matter, and generally think it's the fact that they can't store pallets of cans for any length of time, so they sell so they can keep working and cold storage is dependent on the purchaser.

While I think that Monkish is generally better now, it still takes a few days for me to really like the beer. I'd have hated to drink Molotov(ish) green. Adios Ghost was better after a month or so. Those are obviously triples. About the only ones I can think of off the top of my head I liked absolutely fresh was I Never Sleep, Dreaming of the Usual, and maybe the third or fourth Foggy Window.

Seeing it was just released a couple days ago that makes sense, this needs a couple weeks to mature.

    Cheers

what about LA Hat? I thought personally that it didn't need any time to mature, it was perfect since day ONE

Then drink away, single IPAs aren’t as aggressive as most of Henry’s DDH DIPAs, it’s really just personal prefrence, I know many that love that young green astringency.

I'll throw my hat in the ring.

5th time visiting Monkish. 5th time coming away not liking their hoppy beers. I feel like the flavor balance of their tap beer really off. And I usually really like dank beers. The only two times I've liked their beers were in a can, and about a month later, so it's interesting how their beers change with time.

That being said... I like their current hoppy blonde, and I'm sure I'd love their Citra-hopped Pils.

The profile I personally pickup on Monkish IPAs is not usually 'dank'. The hops are very prominent, but dank to me is more characteristic of a West Coast IPA. I'm trying to think back on a Monkish I've had that was but most of them are more brighter, citrus or fruitier type hops.

EXACTLY. Those 2 other guys have no clue what they are talking about. Dank, are not Monkish beers. Period

Yes, I do admit I am somewhat NEW to the game, but Monkish ipas definitely have a DANKness quality to them. I've heard tons of fellow hop heads say that VERY word, "DANK" when describing Monkish beers, besides all of that, it's my opinion in which I taste a beer to be dank LoL, but go ahead sponger and try to talk down to us because YOU've been a longer alcoholic than me. Cheers Bro :sunglasses:

When I think dank, I think Stone Ruinten, Enjoy By, ESBC Hammerland, Beachwood Hops of Fury...

I'm not sure I've ever had a NEIPA that struck me as being "dank". Plenty of classic west coast IPAs fit that bill though.

Definitely curious as to how you'd describe "dank." I'm warming up to you, bruh, serious question.

Yeah Dank would not be how I would describe monkish hazy. Usually it is either juicy or fruity with soft mouthfeel. In the case of the Gasket Hunters cans, tons of tropical fruit coming through.

Some people use the word "dank" to describe something they like or approve of ("That sweater is pretty dank."). Not saying folks are using the word in that way, but it's always possible.

DANK to me is Grassy, Earthy, Skunky, Piney, Funky Semi-Sweet Abrasive Bitterness. Its almost like umami for me. I HONESTLY get dankness qualities out of Monkish Beers. Example Financial Irresponsibility to ME was very DANK

For many of us, it connotes marijuana, which I guess is covered by “skunky.” I personally wouldn’t use it to cover your other adjectives.

Dank = Weed. That's what I mean. I wouldn't say all Monkish hoppy beers have that profile but definitely current batch of LA Hat and Bomb Atomically.

I do agree, not all Monkish brews taste DANK, but some DO, IMO. Either way I Love Monkish beers whether they are Green or Not!:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
