I just stopped in Monkish on my way home to fill some growlers for the weekend, even the staff are saying that Saturday is going to be a complete shit show. I hear you, if your into Farmhouse Ales Monkish is fantastic, BUT, Beachwood Blendery is only 20-25 minutes away and they are doing some really cool farmhouse stuff. I love Monkish, even if I was going to be in town this weekend it would be the last brewery I would go near. I just don't know how they're going to pull it off.

    Cheers,

Ticketed sessions seems like it would of been a decent idea knowing how big of a crowd they expect. Kinda sucks that it has been almost a year since they really started blowing up in popularity and they still are doing the whole line/hype thing.

I just don't know how they expect to filter in and out so many people, I asked about time limitations and nobody seemed to have a answer. Add to that : Bottle pick ups. Frikin stem ware sales that require a lot of time to wrap, tap list fills, the list goes on. I wish them the best of luck but with their stratospheric rise in popularity their quaint little space may be pushed to the limits on Saturday.

    Cheers,

Now two new Lambic glasses in addition to the 5th Anny glass, you get one each, Toad and Monkey. Just check out Instagram to see how many just want glasses Saturday and are asking if there will be a glass ware line only ! Dear God. I have to hand it to Henry though, he has taken that LOGO and hyped the shit out of it. Absolute insanity if you think people will spend 4-5 + hours of their day for a couple beer glasses.

    Cheers,

Yeah, Junior at Cal. First year though since I transferred from a college in Oregon. I might just go to HPB. Cellarmaker's taproom was a mess when they released Juice Gymnastics and I'm guessing the crowds for Monkish's anniversary will be worse. If it's looking like I can be one of the first couple in the taproom, though, I'd be tempted to try to visit both.

Love the guy who said "the beer looks hazy to me. I'm game". Just fucking outstanding response from these kind of people to only buy shit from monkish if it's hazy.

Same here. Jr transfer to the CNR, though a majority of my classes are within the CED. Hope midterms aren't getting you down.

Monkish has more space than Cellarmaker but I wouldn't call it spacious by any means and even though they haven't announced bottles for sale, I'd still expect a tremendous response. Since you won't be in the area that long, I'd reschedule your Monkish visit for your next trip and do a NELA/DTLA run.

Oh, cool! Figured there had to be some fellow BAs at Cal. Midterms weren't too bad though I've learned my lesson about taking three upper divs. Will take it a bit easier next semester.

I'm taking three and a half and that's more than enough for me. For my capabilities, it's tough to balance life with school with anything more than that.

There's a fermentation club on campus but they don't seem to be very motivated. I've offered ingredients and equipment on a couple of occasions and no one's been serious enough to take me up on my offer.

Some friends suggested I put together a "yeast research" DeCal but the idea doesn't seem very appealing to me. Props to the students who do though.

Don't get it, I just don't get it. Is it to resell?

People buy glassware on a secondary market? Do people not realize they can go on amazon and get the same glassware just without some random logo? I don't get it, what is the importance of a special teku that say monkish on it.

I'd avoid it if possible - or show up later in the afternoon/evening. I can't imagine the line being super crazy later in the evening.

It wasn't clear that it was "outside" the event to me - I read that they will have a dedcated merch table where you can get the bottles.

I guess I am not as big a fan of the Hermosillo as you, but HPB makes some pretty good beers. Their West Coast IPAs are really solid and they have a couple of stellar sours.

Can definitely second the huarache spot - the tortas there are awesome.

Add to that payment - will there be drink tickets you have to buy or will they literally be ringing up every sale at each pour station?
