New month, new thread. This format seemed to work pretty well last month, so let's keep doing it.

    How about them weekday releases?

If they think it's gonna stop me and the boys from getting tore up in their parking lot in the wee hours of the morn, they're in for a rude awakening!!

So what are everyone's thoughts on the two new canning line IPAs?

I think they're both solid with the single tasting better than the double out of the cans at the moment. I'd put them in the middle of the pack when compared to previous releases. They'll probably be better in a couple weeks as with all their other cans.

I had a can of each on the same day I got them. Right now I like the single more than the double. I'll crack another can of each in a couple days.

We had both the IPA and DIPA last night along with FtF. I like the single more, I like FtF better than both cans though because FtF is what I think is Henry's best cross over hybrid between a west coast IPA and the NE style IPA. IMHO there is one thing that I notice not just with Monkish, but a lot of these NE styles IPAs and DIPAs and that is they are often almost non distinguishable from one another. They really do taste very similar, one reason I'm partial to FtF. Love the stuff but I'd like to see more variation. Call it a 1%er problem.:grinning:

    Cheers,

Got to try the DIPA today in the tasting room. It definitely follows the new hoppy beer trend of all aromatics (tropical fruit/woodsy bomb) no bitterness. Had the requisite soft mouthfeel as well. I enjoyed it. I still wouldn't stand in line for it but it was fun to finally see what all the lawnchairs were about.

I've only had the double but will try a single soon - also dig that they have canned-on dates now. I also think FtF is a great beer as well as all their other draft only IPAs. Eating Other Editors is actually one my favorites because I thought it had a slightly different finish than the usual juicy soft bitterness. Even though they taste slightly similar, do you guys have a favorite out of all they've made so far?

My favorite is still Foggy Windows, but if they had canned Damfino 3, that'd be it

Funny, I am reading this as I sip this new batch of Alpine Nelson which is one of their better efforts in a long time. Bring back Damfino 3 and I have my go to Nelson Sauvin fix covered without the drive.

    Cheers,

If anybody has any Intelligent Embellishment cans left, they are at their peak -- drink now. IMO one of their best efforts. The new ones will taste better in 10-14 days.

a line bro at a beer release recently was telling me that the only reason Monkish is doing these canned IPAs is because they dropped their distributor and won't have one for a year or so, and thus, needed to make some mon-ay. i was skeptical of that. is this true? i'm not in the industry so i don't know

Yeah a couple of brewers were unfortunate to sign exclusive distribution deals with incline, which is now pretty much defunct. What better way to make some $$ then by releasing the most trendy style of beer in a region completely devoid of it? Brings people to the brewery and helps all aspects of their business.

And not that anyone that I know on the retail side is shedding any tears but Artisan is now gone as well.

I have heard they have issues with their distributer (California Craft) which is one of the reasons you don't even see their normal stuff on shelves but that was also from a beer bro. I don't see why they'd bother distributing a limited item that they can sell out in 2 hours at a much higher profit margin then. I can't see them distributing until they can produce at levels that exceed demand.
