Monkish Brewing (September 2016)

Isn't this the kind of stuff that started at Tree House? People would put coolers and chairs out and then go sit in their cars or something like that.

 

basically the "no sharing in line" was ignored by some, those who wanted to play by some weird interpretation of the rules were just going to their mini vans and bottle sharing out of a cooler in the trunk via tail gating style while leaving their chairs as place holders. Or just sleep in their car if they show up at 1:30 in the morning for a fucking IPA release.

I would just throw the chairs out of the way if you showed up and no actual person was in front of you.

 

Just filled up a few growlers of Eating Other Editors, another world class IPA which has a hop bill pretty similar to Act Out Emotions, just swapped the Simcoe for Mosaic, pretty packed for a Thursday too I might add, about a 15-20 minute wait for growler fills, LOTS of people filling up the new one.

First timer at Monkish here, what is a reasonable time to line up for can releases? Not worried about line sharing or anything like that, just want to get some new IPAs to try. If I'm in line when they open is it a safe bet that I'll walk away with beer?

 

Most likely not gonna be able to get cans if you show up just before they open. Growler fills of the new ipa and drinking them on draft I'm sure you should be able to get. Unfourtantely it seems it may be extra crazy this weekend with the Other Half collaboration coming out. Good luck man and have fun.

 

Ah man I guess I was assuming they would do allocation based on turn out. If the growlers of the IPA will last most of the day I might just pass on the cans and grab that. Then drown my sorrows in that and a bottle of Same Tree while watching Snatch now lol.

I'd be surprised if the hundreds of folks in line for the cans don't do some massive work on that keg, but we'll see.

If you're already in town it might be safer to head over today for a growler fill.

Sometimes I wish the cops were called during a release so the beer bros get some kind of comeuppance.

It's just a bad look for the scene.

 

Maybe it won't be as chaotic as anticipated with these low limits?

Yeah, with the hype, I don't see why they don't just default everything to a single 4pk limit. They'll still sell out in a day and it spreads the wealth a little more and probably alleviates the sh*tshow a bit. I won't wait in line even if that is the case, so I'm definitely not saying it as a spurned fan.
