I'm pretty sure he's a lawyer so he probably has a good idea what he's talking about. I don't agree with a lot of laws and how they're worded but that doesn't change the fact that those are the laws and how they are currently interpreted in our society.

Yeah, and lawyers also lose cases. Look all I'm saying is that there is a grey area and if it came down to a court case there are arguments to be had on both sides. I disagree that it's "cut and dry."

For some people, it's all about acquiring or drinking beer. Nothing can get in the way of that.

Bottom line is anything that would involve pissing off the businesses around you or the cops showing up is bad for business. The reason many bars have bouncers is to avoid having to call the cops every time someone acts a fool.

They didnt start taking off the wrist bands till about a little under or a little over the half way point, so with those people being at the front of the line, they still had their wrist bands on after they bought cans. Their friend was closer to the end of where they handed out wrist bands so they just cut in line where he was, which just happened to be in front of a lot of people without wrist bands.

There are always arguments for both sides in court cases. A winning and a losing argument. :stuck_out_tongue:

I doubt it would ever come down to a court case. They would get the warning from the police and then relay it to the people. Look at how Firestone's Liberations once had line shares as no problems and Jeffers and Walker were happy to turn the blind eye until they got the hammer brought down on them from the local police that their license could be effected.

Monkish has that sign of no drinking past that point for a reason. If someone does, then they can be held responsible with their licensing at risk. So perhaps not putting them in that situation would better than dick swagging on your latest hauls.

If the glove don't fit, you must acquit... haha

It's really not that big of a place. Looks crowded behind those tanks as it is.

Like @clayfu said, Monkish would certainly be effected if there were any consequences to people drinking on the premises on and adjacent to their facility. It's pretty clear that those people aren't random people drinking in public because they were going to do so anyway. They are there because that particular business is releasing a product on that day and they are intended customers of that business. It seems cut and dry to me that the business should make sure their intended customers abide by the law of society and the premises in order to prevent any negative repercussions from effecting future business.

TL/DR: Cause: Monkish release; Effect: People drinking in public and possible disorderly conduct.
There is no effect here without the Monkish release. They're going to be held subject to consequences.

I shared a few beers in line on Saturday shortly before opening. After reading this thread, I deeply regret my decision and apologize to all the beards I've hurt with my actions. I have voluntarily turned myself into Torrance PD for violation of multiple public ordinances. I encourage others who also drank in line Saturday to reflect on your actions and do the right thing.

It's funny until you are in handcuffs because you were too drunk to not be an idiot.

But yeah, for you worst case is a couple tickets. For Monkish, it can probably be much worse for their business.

For a lot of these guys they couldn't give a shit about Monkish until they started making that "sweet OJ juice" why would they care if it affected them?

I'm always tickled when I look back at when Monkish first opened, and they had one beer on draft (which they don't brew anymore), and it was just me and my buddy in the taproom. Their growth has exploded, and it's especially exploded in the past year

For the record, I went there around 2:30 and they were just finishing off the last of the cans. No wristband required.
