There's a ton of people simply waiting for cans to trade for Zombie Dust and asking peogle in line about trade value. Absurd.

Yeah, I do think this is a babies first release sort of thing. I remember one of the first shit shows I went to with that Alesmith 09 BASS.

You never forget your first feeling of getting fucked badly.

The lines are too much for me. I have the itch to go each time but see this thread and realize that staying home/going to the dentist/the park with the kids/walking the dog/avoiding crowds is much more delightful on a Saturday morning. The beers are great and I'd love to have cans but sometimes you just have to miss out.

Only your wife, baby, job and (World Cup )are worth getting up at 5am for, those 5am-ers sitting in line for a beer release are idiots.

@clayfu oh I wasn't aware that today's release was NE style. I wouldn't wait for tree house or Trillium from 6 in the morning till 10 for PTY even. If I want a can of treehouse I'll just trade at my covienience.. usually laying in my nice comfy bed while setting up the logistics. It's just beer.. social media has fucked up this whole thing causing trends and hype that sometimes are just that. I'm guilty of using social media.. even this site. But I ain't gonna rearrange my whole plans when I can go pick up something great at my bottle shop.

How many people in line today even know if the beer sucks or not? And if it's mediocre they're going to say it's they greatest shit ever to save face.

Not sold out, just got my cans. Looked like they still had a bunch left. I was probably middle in line.

Well they are new beers so nobody knows if it sucks or not. People buy because they expect it to be good based on previous releases.

And trading for Tree House is a pain in the ass

Just want to cast my vote for them to adjust this process. I understand that they can't store all of this in their spot for a week but something has to give here. Dealing with hours in line, mules, line-cutting seems unnecessarily archaic in the digital age.

Haha figured I'd throw that in there since I was sitting in the lobby waiting for the doc and wishing I was at Monkish.

They appear to love the attention they are getting with these hazy hip hop IPAs.... doubt they'll change shit.

Blazing Arrows was solid on draft. I love some galaxy but would punch myself in the dick if I had waited hours in line for cans.

Dude, yes. For now, I'll still go to HPB releases, until it starts getting this nuts. Never had any of these new monkish hazy ipa's since I refuse to stand in these lines. I'm gonna stick to online, HPB, and Beachwood for now.
I actually thought about making a trade with an east coast buddy once. Then I figured taking the time to pack and drop off a package at fed ex was too much trouble, when I could spend the time going to the local craft store and getting something just as good, if not better than, I would have gotten in return.
So anything I get, I drink.

Is Monkish growler-filling either of the IPA's today? If so, they fill any growlers or just Monkish growlers?

    Thanks!

I'm here right now. Both IPA's were damn good. I thought Blazing Arrows was better than Underoos.
I was speaking to Henry for a bit and he has high hopes for Blazing Arrows. The thought is once it has a few days to mellow out in the can, it should be comparable to Foggy Window. I tried to compliment him as much as possible in hopes of him telling me he was gonna make more, but he wouldn't budge.

Monkish is filling the NE style IPA void in California, and backing it up by producing beers that do the style justice (from what I hear). Continuous new releases allow them to fine tune the style while garnering talk and drama from their limited bottling. Monkish wasn't even a blip on the radar before all these releases. It doesn't sound like there are any other west coast breweries that are covering this style with as much talent as Monkish and as long as that's the case and there are no other fads to kill this off Monkish is in hog heaven.

I'm sure eventually competitors will motivate them to start bottling proper numbers but until then let the H train roll, godspeed Monkish!
