He might be talking about the "Canning Day Release"

As soon as it's in the can, it's sold. No online, no pick up window, weekly/bi-weekly release.

Show up and Buy 'till it's gone.

    Like good BBQ.

When are people gonna admit that these IPA's aren't that great?

This release on tap was the worst yet and the can shipment delay was just average
i thought the previous IPA's were awesome so this was a disappointment
and I am not looking to trade for over value so there is no way I would wait in line for hours to get some cans

Everyone I've had has been quite good, with a couple being very good. Some beers just aren't for everyone.

Can shipment delay was a west coast IPA. Atomically and I never sleep were great. Wish these were easier to get.

Heading down that way 7/16 which per the website looks like a release day. I don't plan to arrive til about 2 or 3 pm. My question is will the taproom be a shit show all day long or does it die down some after the cans are gone? Just looking to try their stuff on tap and maybe get some growlers.

No guarantees but it might be less of a shit show later on in the evening like past 6. That was my experience on one of the previous releases.

Saturdays are kind of shit shows in general at most breweries in the area

With 10am being the new release time you should be fine in the afternoon. That being said, they very rarely have growler fills as an option for their IPAs.

it's still going to be busy, but probably just weekend level busy as the can buyers would have either be moving on earlier than that or already far too drunk to continue there.

Thanks all for the info. Guess it should be expected for a good brewery to be busy on a Saturday. Just hoping im not shoulder to shoulder in there. And kind of a bummer that IPA's are available for fills. Oh well

Monkish is one of the smaller tap rooms around here, so yeah, you'll be shoulder to shoulder. My own personal experience is it dies down about 6:30-7. Enough that you can snag somewhere to sit.
The good news is that if Monkish is packed, head over to Smog or a bit further away is Phantom Carriage. Then head back over to Monkish a bit later. Monkish and Smog are open until 10 on Saturdays. PC is open until midnight.

I was there this past Saturday at 1:30 and it was comfortable. Not much sitting room, but certainly not shoulder to shoulder either. That may have had something to do with the FO release, though.

Definitely, I met quite a few people in line a the FO release who said they were at Monkish earlier with one or two boasting about being in line at 6 a.m.

Oh right on. Ya I had Smog City on my list but didn't know Phantom Carriage was near by.

The taproom usually is fairly mellow about 2 hours after can release days (so far). So depending on if they open at 10am or 12pm you can go from there. Last Saturday the taproom was super mellow around 1pm.

Regarding growlers, I know they ran out a couple weeks ago. Not sure if they restocked. If not, you'll want to bring a blank swingtop or two if there were any non-IPAs on your radar for fills.

Growlers are back in stock at Monkish, picked one up Sunday.
