Some kegs of Foggier Window, Water Ballon Fight Club and Feed Me Hip Hop have been popping up around the city over the past week or two. (Gold Star Beer Counter, Rattle n Hum, Spuyten Duyvil, Mugs Alehouse)

Anyone know if this is a one time drop of kegs or could we *gasp* really see NYC distro in the future?

I hope we see some kegs/bottles of their farmhouse style/mixed ferm beers. I’m not overly impressed with their hoppy offerrings but damn every Saison I’ve had has been top notch.

I'm thinking this is more of a one time thing (or at best something they'll just do twice a year, they did some takeovers at Other Half and Torst earlier this year), since it's probably pretty expensive to ship beer from CA.

seems like a nice random hook up to us NY'ers, of course if it becomes a regular "thing" I wouldn't complain in the slightest

I didn't even know that Monkish was distributed in NY. If so, that's awesome, but if not then those kegs got there under some questionable circumstances.

Not sure which beer or brewery it was, but I remember a few years back going to a cool craft bar in NY that had a disclaimer on their chalkboard to not check in a particular beer on Untappd, Facebook, etc.

Only one reason I can think of why they wouldn't want people to know they had some super limited keg that wasn't available anywhere else in the area.

It may have been HF and the bar may have held onto the keg too long so they didnt want it out in the open. Shaun pulled distro from NYC awhile back when he found bars sitting on his hoppy offerings.

Haymaker appears to be charging $11 for an 8oz pour.

    Of an IPA

I feel like this is pretty standard at this point, for a hype beer/brewery + keg shipping costs. Other Half charged $5 for 4 OZ of Monkish in February.

It is pretty much the standard. Just wish it wasn’t.

Gotta say I know this thread is more for access than impressions but as much as I recall enjoying Monkish IPAs in the past Water Balloon Fighters didn't blow me away by any means. No way is it as good as the best from NYC or a discernable enough difference to make it worth the price or the trek IMO.

It’s not really one of their best.

Plus whether it’s common or not $11 for 8oz of an IPA is fing expensive

We’re talking hasy IPAs here. Is there any discernible difference between the good or best Monkish IPAs and NYC’s best? This is more for the tickers than anything else.

I’ve had Relax Your Mind, Piece of Sunshine and 21 & Lewis (all DIPAs) all on tap at the source and all 3 were right there with anything from around here. It’s not the biggest sample in the World, but nothing we’re not used to around here. And, I don’t mean disrespect, I was a big fan of all 3, and in 95% of the country it probably wouldn’t be a contest in terms of taste and flavor in comparison to whatever is local.

I was recently able to trade for some cans of Enter The Fog Dog, The Realness, Relax Your Mind, and Bomb Atomically, and I thought they were all stellar. I also had some beers on tap at OH back in February. Plus Water Balloon yesterday. This is a hot take, but I would say Monkish's multi-hopped beers are better than Other Half. But no one touches Other Half's single hop offerings.

Back around the time Monkish started collabing with OH we had a round of bottles drop. I think Broadway dive had up to 3 different bottles and Cassette was making its way around town on draft.

I shall keep my eyes peeled.

Back in 2016 I visited the brewery and was able to take home 2 bottles of some mix ferm beers but wish I had room in my suitcase for more. Some of the best mix ferm beers I’ve ever had!
