Growlers are available all the time and are equally tasty

Not denying that, but I don't drink a lot of beer. Only usually have one can in a sitting. Growlers are great but they're not conducive to the way I drink. I used to get growlers from other breweries, have a little bit of it, throw it in the fridge, then try to drink some more the next day only for it to be almost completely flat and stale. If I drank more I'd be getting growlers all day. Shelf life is just too short. Cans are infinitely easier because they're portioned out perfectly for a single serving and will never go flat.

Bummer, because your missing out on a lot of world class beers that Monkish doesn't can, like this classic, re-released today after a almost a year. If you know how to store a growler properly it will be fresh and carbed for at least 48 hours.

    Cheers,

I actually think that a lot of the growler only releases are better than that weeks can releases many times.

I've just had too many experiences drain-pouring flat growlers. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I close the swing-top on my growlers immediately after pouring a glass and throw it back in the fridge. If it isn't flat the next day, it's at the very least substantially less carbonated.

I'll give you a tip that I'm sure the breweries don't want you to know,:astonished: I've been doing it for a couple years now and it will keep your beer carbed and delicious for a couple days, that way you can enjoy a couple beers at a time. After your done place your growler upside down or at an angle that will ensure the neck of the growler is full of beer, this creates an air tight seal that will not let air in. I do this with both swing top and screw cap growlers. I put mine in our vegetable/ fruit drawers, I have a modular Sub Zero unit and these drawers are very cold as well. When you open the growler the next day it will actually pop when you open it, it's never failed me and gives me the freedom to enjoy a lot of growler only beers with no fear of wasting expensive beers.

    Cheers,

Stoked you finally got cans ( and great ones at that ). I don't think anyone can brew a hybrid like Henry, it's the best of both coasts, juicy as hell but with that great west coast dank / bitterness that reminds you its a west coast beer.

Wine savers are easy and let you drink what you want from a growler whether it's 10 oz or 22 oz at a time.. some are pretty cheap too.

For an out-of-towner who'd be hanging with non-beer lovers (my one cousin likes IPAs) are either today or tomorrow can releases/shit shows? I did not bring a check-in bag so I have no interest in cans, I'd like to just be able to try a few beers on tap when it's "quietest" anytime this weekend. I appreciate any input from the regulars in this thread, thank you.

Don't use those! They are great for wine because it sucks air (hopefully oxygen) out. If you use it in beer you are going to suck the CO2 out of beer and make it go flat quicker. Use something like this:

Go at opening and it should be practically empty, unless they announce a release between now and then.

This week's release has already passed, so you should be fine. From what I understand the tasting room isn't very busy on days with no releases. But then again, it's also a weekend, so I would take that into account.

Touché. Some “limited edition” hype glassware. Lines = marketing.

As a basic guideline, there will always be a line of some sort before they open, whether that's 4pm or 1pm, I've stopped by on my way home from my LA office frequently on Friday's and at 12:45 there is often at least a dozen early birds already in line. These lines are almost always gone within an hour max, so, you can cruise right in pretty easily 45 minutes to an hour after opening. Can releases and glassware releases don't apply to the general rule.Monkish is generally very busy regardless of can release's or not, just plan accordingly.

    Cheers,

I've heard people line up on a daily basis hours before opening, hoping for a can release announcement (if the release that week hasn't already happened, that is). If so, that's crazy.
