thinking about heading to monks tomorrow for Pliny the younger. Does anyone have an idea of the time in line to get a pour. I only have a few hrs free and was wondering if it would be worth drinking into the city. Cheers
In my opinion/experience: If you just want to try Younger, I would say you can show up after 1:30/2pm (to avoid the initial line) and be okay. In the past, the pours have be ~6 oz for $10-15 CASH. So, it lasts most of the day as Monks typically taps at least one 15.5 gallon keg ( I think most of the other places get a sixtel. I should note that the Younger event is usually on a Monday. I've seen Younger pouring as late as 6pm on a Monday event. So, a Saturday event may get more attention. However, I don't know if people are as interested in Younger as much as the additional beers being poured. I typically come in around 2/3 and have never been disappointed. Good luck! - Joe PS: I don't recommend drinking into the city unless it's via public transportation.
As expected, it was around the block! I only got here around 11am, so I was lucky to get a nice spot in line!
You are the only other person I have heard of with the last name caffarella. Are you originally from Philly?
I was not born in Philly but my grandparents lived in Philly for a long time! I have to be related to you somehow lol
Ah nice, I was counting on the Boathouse having it, so I can just pop over real quick at lunch when they announce it. Local 44 also did a surprise, day-of announcement by email yesterday morning. I was tempted to go but ended up deciding not to.
