Hello fellow beer lovers, I'll be hiking Glacier NP soon, and of course, it would be more than grand to try some Montana breweries. I know they are scattered around the state, but are any located close to Glacier? I know of a brewery in Whitefish and Polson. Any others? W
Flathead Lake is by/in Bigfork (I think) and I had a great time there a few years ago. Good beer, great folks!
Depending on your route, Harvest Moon in Belt (near Great Falls) is worth a stop. Blackfoot River and Lewis & Clark have great taprooms (and beer) if you pass through Helena.
Great Northern Brewing in Whitefish was pretty cool. There was a BBQ joint just up the road called Piggyback, Mmmmmm tasty. We had also had a couple of decent brews from Kettle Brewing in Missoula.
Also check here: http://www.montanabeerfinder.com/p/montana-breweries.html Great Northern in Whitefish is the closest to GNP (and a good one). My advice, skip the Polson one. I don't think Desert Mountain is quite open yet, but it's worth a look-see: http://www.montanabeerfinder.com/2012/04/two-new-breweries-opening-in-montana-in.html To try ones on tap, check out Hops Grill in Kalispell. For a bottle shop, Markus Foods in Whitefish can't be beat! And if you're coming through Missoula, hit me up! Cheers.
Like Newhouse said, if you're passing through Missoula, let us know. Skip Glacier Brewing in Polson. Flathead Lake in Lakeside is good if you're there, too.
Will be in Whitefish on the 11th. Aug. I'm from louisiana taking a Vacation. Looking at some diferent brews.
Flathead Lake Brewing in Bigfork is a fun little place, and it's (literally) right across the street from the lake. Tamarack brewing is good as well, and Big Sky is probably worth a visit if you're going through Missoula.
Just got back from Whitefish area. Flathead brewing and Tamarack are both good places. If you are in Missoula I'd recommend Kettlehouse and Bayern. There is a new place called Draughtworks that you might want to check out as well.
