http://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bet...quor-Control-Slashes-Prices-on-Certain-Beers/ I suggest reading the whole article, particularly the second half: "The fee reduction is the first in a series of updates the department is planning as a way to improve its operations after being heavily criticized by council members and local restaurant and business owners during the ad hoc committee’s review."
You'll still have stores mark up prices that are oddly high. *cough cough gillys* Just last week I walked into a store that was selling mama yella pils for like $18...straight dumb
I hate my county. Get the fuck out of the distribution system. Bethesda does not have one fucking good bar. With all that money flying around, why not? Oh...right...
That article makes me appreciate the fact that I only work in Bethesda and live elsewhere. It seems like such an archaic system in place in MoCo.
I don't expect everything to get better instantly. I'm just glad that people running restaurants are making it an issue, and that the county is noticing the lower amount of sales and revenue compared to surrounding counties. Gilly's is a place to have a beer, not a place to buy beer for home. Yes their prices are what they are, and we can choose or not to go there. I used to go a lot more in their earlier years(mostly to have a beer), but every time I'm at Urban BBQ, Gilly's seems to have customers. Their growler prices are insane compared to anywhere else. I understand their logic behind it(comparing it to on premise consumption) and I'm sure their rent isn't cheap..but no.
Yep downtown crown is where it's at, they've got my loyalty. And not to hate on gillys too much, I do like their sammiches
