I am planning a buddies bachelor party for late summer and would love any recommendations for beer and food. Food spot doesn't have to be beer related. And any other suggestions for things to do in the city would be greatly appreciated!!
If you aren’t much on a budget you and your peers, anything from Unibroue and Dieu du ciel! will be worthy. As for food, if you’re on the piss late at night. The poutine meal, known around the word will have you full.
What kind of beer do you and the others like? For NEIPAs Messorem Bracitorium is excellent. Same with Brewsky. I like the lagers from Silo and Melon is another good stop. Of course, Dieu du Ciel! Is excellent. if you are looking for something that is quintessentially Montreal, a little touristy but still excellent, Shwartz’s for smoked meat is a good choice for one of your meals. I’m not sure how active he is lately, but @TheDoctor might be able to point you in some good directions.
Messorem Bracitorium has a large outdoor area if you don't want to be stuck inside somewhere in nice weather. It's in a mildly run-down industrial area and parking can be a challenge - I've been lucky whenever I've gone i.e., arriving early and on weekdays. Also, they play really loud, angry hip-hop which I find amusing for the first couple of hours/pints (pasty-pale skinny québécois boys pretending to be dangerous gangbangers) but after that it gets on my nerves. St-Amboise is about a 15 minute walk from Messorem on the other side of Lachine Canal. It's another nice outdoor space, adjacent to the bike path and, as best I recall, without shitty music. Quieter and more laid-back than Messorem, but way less hip (i.e., not hip at all). In the lamentable absence of @TheDoctor I rely on https://montreal.eater.com to find food. Just look for a tasty topic, then use the map to zoom in on Verdun and Sud_Ouest.
If Evil Twin and Messorem ever do a collaboration beer, it needs to be called: “Pasty-pale skinny québécois boys pretending to be dangerous gangbangers.” @papposilenus
As far as fun longer activities that involve beer there are a couple solid options for a group of people I'd say. There are a lot of beer related places and good food in walking distance in Little Italy--Isle de garde, Vices versa, Peluso bottleshop and lots of good Italian food. The same is true along the Lachine Canal--Messorem, St-Ambroise, 4 Origines, Le sans Taverne and a newer one whose names escape me at the moment. If you end up wanting to stay closer to downtown there are a few good places in walking distance in the quartier des spectacles.
