Heading up over the weekend with the fam. Going to Six Flags, Bio Dome, Insectarium, Notre Dame, Old Port, Jean Talon mkt. Looking for good recommendations of the following near the places we are visiting:

    - Montreal smoked beef (have been to Schwartz’s before)
-bagels (have been to St.Viateur before)
    -Poutine
    -Ice cream

-And family friendly brewpubs/beer centric restaurants for spots to hit up for lunch/dinner

    Thanks!

Just be aware that it’s Thanksgiving weekend. (I’ll be there)! Not as big a deal as in the states but a lot of restaurants are closed Sundays and Mondays, anyway, so a table can be hard to find. Call ahead! Make reservations!

You seem to have a pretty good idea already from previous trips and I don't have many brilliant ideas for the non-degenerate things on your list.

But Mellön is pretty close to Jean Talon. Not the family friendliest place nor the widest food variety but they make very good lagers and sell cans to go if you're into that sort of thing.

    Hope you brought umbrellas.

I hope @BruChef had a good trip. My wife and I go to Montreal every year and will be heading up again soon. We usually spend many, many hours at Dieu De Ciel. I'm wondering if we might switch it up a tad this year, however. I'd be interested for places, specifically in the Mile End area that do right by craft beer. Bonus points if you direct me towards some cask ale (which Dieu De Ciel also has, but again, trying to switch it up a bit).

Hey all, thanks for the responses. We were able to do some of the things we had planned but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and we had to switch up a day in order to hit up Six Flags when the weather would be the most cooperative. Unfortunately, 3 rides in, my kid tripped over the leg of a barricade fence (set up for line control for fright fest attractions) and smashed his elbow, ultimately fracturing it, so we had had to cut our trip short and head back home immediately. Didn’t have the chance to drink a single beer but did have a monster plate of smoked beef and many bagels from Fairmount.

Sorry to hear about your kid. That's awful.

Bagels help. I plan on getting six dozen before I leave town after my trip, ha ha. They freeze nicely.
