I just realized that the bottles I bought and I've been drinking are brewed in Rochester NY.(Genesee)
I knew, yeah, knew there was something different about the taste.

It's happening to a lot of beers. Bass ale is now brewed in the states and I believe Becks is also made here or Canada where Fosters is made.

Yeah, Irwindale California by SAB Miller. That's for Fosters. Becks is an AB-inBev brew and I haven't looked at the Bass Ale bottles but I'm leaning towards AB-inBev again.

I don't know, many years ago Guinness Extra Stout was one I turned to a lot but not since Labatt took the reigns. Another AB-inBev "puppet", if you will.

So how does it taste? Has it retained any of the fruity/nutty/buttery Yorkshire characteristics?

I heard about the change a ways back, and didn't think it would bode well for that beer.

Blindfolded, I would have never guessed that it was an English Pale Ale or an English Ale of any sort. Maybe they accidentally filled my bottles with Genesee Cream Ale? Nah, I recently reviewed Cream Ale and I mentioned corn, which this doesn't have. Bigger corny notes in the Genesee Beer so that rules it out. Hang on a tick...I was looking for a stamp on the bottle for the bottling date and I found it. The 75th day of 2012?? Really?? It just showed up in the last week and a half and sold for +$11 a sixer. Good bloody grief!

I really need to just try this damn thing. I stared it down at the Parrotthead in Shelby, Oh before I moved. I never pulled the trigger. Just got pulled by bigger name beers from bigger name breweries.

Make sure you find the bottled on stamp. I wouldn't want you to get stung like I did. I fart in the distributor's general direction.

I may just skip it, and head for some local stuff for a while.

Yeah, this is sick (as Black Sheep is one of my favorite breweries on the planet). Their regular stuff is just about impossible to get fresh (or even fresh-ish) in the States now too, which is a damn crying shame. FWIW, it's been brewed stateside for at least a year or two...

We had Black Sheep in town for the longest time and I also enjoyed their brews. Well, the 3 we got: Riggwelter, Ale, and Monty Python. Then THIS showed up? I didn't have a clue.:slight_frown:
