Hey everybody, been checkin out BA for a while now but new to the forums, not sure if this is the right place for this thread but iv been drinking alot of brews form Big Sky Brewery out of Montana. Wanted to get everyones opinions on their brown ale called Moose Drool. I absolutely love this beer and its been a real epiphany beer for the brown ale style. Coming from drinking a lot of stouts and porters it was an easy transition to the dark brew. Also I resently picked up the Samuel Adams holiday veriety pack that came with thier holiday porter and i could swear its almost identical to the Moose Drool, really diggin it. Anyways love to here back from you guys on what you think about both brews and if you have tried any other beers simalar to this style you think i would enjoy. Thanx and Cheers!
Moose Drool is ubiquitous in these parts and, imho, it sells based on name more than anything else. I could take it or leave it. Big Sky's IPA and the Slow Elk oatmeal stout are both superior to Moose Drool.
Well coming from California I cant really get my hands on anything but Moose Drool and Trout Slayer unfortunately. But i would love to try the oatmeal stout that sounds delicious, do you know if they would ship thier brews out this way?
I'll have to agree with leedorham about Moose Drool. I picked up a sixer a few weeks ago after not having it in years and five have been sitting in my fridge since, it's a lot less flavorful than I remembered. Can you get your hands on Bell's Best Brown Ale, Surly Bender, or Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar?
Moose Drool is a cool name but I have to agree with other posters, not much of a fan. Don't hate it but, I would it's not something I would pick up at the beer store.
Bells and dark horse( Boffo) way better browns than Moose drool and of course we have Surly Bender to enjoy here
An enjoyable beer to be sure. One of the most readily available Brown Ales around. I drink a couple a year.
You know iv heard alot about Bell's havent came acrossed it yet though, im from a pretty small town in the central valley although we just reacently got a BevMo like 2weeks ago so ill have to check that out. And yes iv had the Brown Nectar from Rouge very good beer just a little pricy to be buying all the time.
